Red Cut Out Boots With Silk, Denim, Stripes & Cashmere

Black sweater, silk scarf, red skinnies
There’s a whole mixture of colours, textures and patterns here – not very spring-like, I know, but I’m loving the combination nevertheless. I’ve always said I’m not much of a black wearer, but a cashmere-soft black sweater is a wardrobe staple and should last me a fair few years. And the boots! I bought them a few years ago and they’ve appeared on the blog quite a few times (here, here, here and here) – they’re quite hard to style but it mean they’re a bit of a challenge to work out what to do with them. I was quite surprised when looking back at how different the outfits are.

Do you have an item of clothing or pair of shoes that you find tough to style? How have you got on? Do let me know in the comments!

Gorgeous colours in that scarf, looks super with the red jeans. I have to confess though, I really hate cut-out boots!! Sorry. Pet hate. I love this look from the ankle up though!! P x

Those shoes are fab, I can see how they'd be tough to wear though I've got sons blue suede ones like that

Love how the different textures & colours look so well together! It's actually kinda tough to pair things up that aren't matchy-matchy and make them work. You certainly have a knack for it! Particular love for that stripe blazer!

First I have to say that the colours of your scarf here are amazing, dear Catherine…and perfect for spring (in my humble opinion!!) The red "shooties" (as we call this kind of shoe-boot hybrid on this side of the Atlantic Ocean) are so unique; pieces that have a "twist" like this always really appeal to me, too!! Of course, I had to check out all the different ways that you've styled them – the harem pant idea was ingenious! – and I think you did them justice every single time!! Right now, my biggest style challenge is this #$*&! cast…it goes with nothing; but MUST, unfortunately, go with everything!! 😉

I know what you mean about items that are hard to style…have picked up a few of those myself. But sometimes you just see something so wonderful or unique that you have to have it, and you know that if you let it slip away you'll regret it. And eventually the day will come when the said item finds its place, maybe much later, it's like it was the missing piece in a puzzle, the one that completes an outfit. So, I've come to the conclusion that if I absolutely fall in love with an item, there's a reason for that, and it will become part of my style one day.

I know what you mean about the open toe on boots, Monica… Can't say I'm keen either! Thanks hun x
