Vote For Me To Model For Fever London + 2014 Blog Goals

Fever London Model comp
Today I’m asking for your help once more my little lammies: I’ve entered a Facebook competition to model for clothing brand Fever London and I’d *love* your votes please. I mentioned it in Monday’s post so some of you may have voted already… thank you so much (and don’t forget you can vote for me once a day – see below)! Either click the image above or go this link:

Click To Vote For Me To Model For Fever London!

Just two steps: “Like” their page, then click “Vote” for me πŸ™‚

It’s their Perfect Fit Competition through Facebook and there will be five winners, one from each size category. The brand are looking for women of “real sizes”, and as there’s no age restriction either I think it’s a brilliant idea! They want the winners to model their SS14 collection of vintage inspired clothes and it would truly be a great big tick on my Blogger’s Bucket List to do this.

Just one thing: you can vote once every 24 hours, so if you remember on any other day (till 19 February) to vote again pleeeeeeeeease do so – thank you thank you thank you – MWAH!

Talking of Blogger’s Bucket Lists…

Modelling for a brand would be such a big deal – it’s something that I couldn’t possibly have contemplated doing when I started this blog, especially at my age! With writing the blog my confidence has grown over the last 2-3 years, and now it’s something I definitely want to do, and will be actively pursuing this. So it’s number one on my Blogger’s Bucket List that I’ve been thinking about for a while, which is currently a list of blog goals that I want to achieve this year.

It’ll be my first year blogging full time, so I need to plan for the whole year. And why not have a mixture of realistic and wouldn’t-that-be-great-if goals? Here’s the list!

1. To model for a brand or publication

At least where the pictures will be seen somewhere other than my blog (website, catalogue, magazine, etc.). You never know, if everyone votes for me every day in the Fever London competition it may come true…!

2. To become the most successful over 40 fashion blogger in the UK

This is subjective, I know, but I’m fiercely competitive (in the nicest way, of course)! My competitive streak simply makes me strive to continually improve. Hence wanting to win this competition.

3. To transfer my blog over to WordPress

I want it designed so it’s exactly to my specifications. There’s only so far I can go with Blogger and I feel I’ve got to the optimum point with it.

4. To promote the Accentuate The Positive Project more.

I launched this project last year following the much-read and talked-about How To Make The Most Of Your Best Feature post, and it aims to get women to be proud of their best bits and show them off to the world. I’ve had many amazing women contribute already, and I need to commit more time to getting the message out there. Please take a look and join in if you haven’t already.

5. To get in the top 250 fashion blogs on Bloglovin.

I’m currently no.305 – so close to breaking the 300! If I’m in the top 250 by the end of the year I’ll be so proud of myself [insert cheesy grin here].

6. To organise a blogger meet-up

One that’s specifically geared towards older bloggers. I want to do something that’ll cater for UK bloggers, maybe those who haven’t been to a meet-up before, either because they’ve been organised by much younger bloggers or, like me, not gone because they’re for mummy bloggers (I’m not a mum). I was wondering why no-one my age was organising anything, so decided I should do something about it! I want it to be open to all age groups (no restrictions on who can come), but I’d gear it towards the 30+ ages more and probably hold it in the “middle” of the south of England somewhere. If you have an interest in this please email me with your name, blog URL and town/city so I can put you on my list of people to contact – notdressedaslamb(at)gmail(dot)com – and watch this space!

So that’s my goals for 2014 out there in the bloggesphere – I’ve declared them now so there can be no wriggling out of at least trying my damnedest with my six goals. Thank you so much again for voting and all your fantastic support – I lost my last style-off competition by just one vote (gutted) so every vote really DOES count!!

What about you – any blog goals for 2014? I’d love to know!

Catherine x

Got you on the list, hun! Thank you :))

All great goals Catherine and I'm sure you will succeed achieving them!

One more thing I think you should add is to create your own newsletter and start setting up a list. Focusing on Bloglovin is good and will give you extra exposure, but it's still an external service that you don't own and have no control of. You will always be in control of your own subscribers and it's a brilliant way to stay in touch with them. I use Mailchimp to manage my list so you may want to give that a go (Yes, even Mailchimp could close down, but you still own and could move your subscribers….)

I have thought about a newsletter Sylvia, but as always it's a question of time… for example my mum rang me last night to say she hadn't received the email about the competition that I promised to send last weekend – I simply hadn't the time (and I want to WIN!!!!). It'll be on next year's goals list maybe…! Thanks for the heads up though x

P.S. have you voted…? I'm sure you are!

Hmm I'm committed now by declaring it, aren't I?!!! Thanks hun x

I like this list, straight up and laying out clearly. This 40 + blogging is exciting and I think all your goals are achievable. Now is the time, you are lovely and we all need positive examples moving forward!

Thank you Ann, that's very encouraging to know people think it's an achievable list! Thank you for the lovely compliments too x

Hello beautiful! I tried to vote for you but FB won't let me vote as Not Dead Yet. But I am hoping you win, sounds fabulous. xo

    • 31 January 2014 / 10:07 am

Oh I know Patti – you have to vote as a "person" rather than a "page" (I didn't know you could only be a page?!) But thanks so much for your support, unending as always!! x

Love this "Bucket List" you've put together, Catherine…they are all very admirable (and I'm sure very achievable) goals!! I, on the other hand, have an immediate goal of getting myself on Facebook!! I'm so sorry that I can't vote for you (for this particular contest, at least), but I am wishing you all the luck in the world!! You would make a lovely model!! πŸ™‚

Oh but Monika if you were to set up FB between now and 19 Feb you could still vote…!!! Hehe only joking – I know you would if you could! (Got any friends or family that might on your behalf??!!!) xx

Excellent – thanks so much Blush (and please don't forget to come back and vote again…!)

No offence meant to Adrienne, but I find WordPress super easy and I do appreciate the options and versatility of its platform over Blogger's. It does have more features that take getting used to, but once you get over the mild learning curve, you should be fine. That said, I've recently gotten into link ups and wanted to host one of my own, but sadly, the folks who create linkys (I use InLinkz) aren't WordPress-friendly. I suppose I could find another company, but I can't be bothered at the mo'. ;p But yeah, that's the only con I'd have against WordPress. Your switchover should be painless and worth it.

And blargh! Not in England. Won't be able to meet up. Sigh…

    P.S. Voted! πŸ˜€

Thank you M for voting!! I think Adrienne meant the switch over was tricky rather than using WordPress every day (hence why I'm getting someone else to do it for me)! x

    • 31 January 2014 / 3:59 pm

Ah, that makes sense. And yes, in that case, getting someone else to do it would be ideal. πŸ˜€

I voted yesterday..will pop over and do it again today.
I just made the switch from Blogger to WordPress and I am loving it. But it's no easy task and I even had someone do the hard stuff for me!

    • 31 January 2014 / 10:03 am

Adrienne you're a star, thanks so much! I'm going to get a web developer to do the redesign and transfer for me, I couldn't take the stress. It was hard enough trying to get my Blogger domain to redirect to my dot com (even the developer said it was tricky)!!!!

Voted! And I truly think each of those goals is attainable πŸ™‚
