What I Was Going To Wear To London Fashion Week | Vintage Shorts Suit

Vintage purple shorts suit
Yes, you read that right: This was what I was *going* to wear on one of the days of London Fashion Week – but didn’t. My other loan from The House Of Pandora was this vintage 1960s printed shorts and jacket suit, and I absolutely loved it, but shorts (even with tights) and London in February are not a match made in heaven. The outfit also absolutely required heels, so I deliberated for ages about whether to wear it or not and decided it would make me too miserable to be freezing cold and have sore feet, so I very reluctantly forwent this honey of an outfit.

But I decided that shouldn’t stop me showing you how I was going to style it anyway. The suit fitted me like a glove, and I love the buttons and the pattern and the puffy shoulders – all of it, basically. The huge scarf wrapped round my neck was of course for warmth (and it stops the suit looking too smart), and I liked the idea of yellow (the bag) as a perfect contrast to the lilac. The cherry-on-top is the black hair bow in my hair, which is another piece from my Anna Lou of London collection. I’m sure I got the idea from Blair Edie – I’ve wanted a big black bow adorning my bun for ages so I’ll put that one down as Atlantic-Pacific inspiration.

So two weeks after the main event began, my London Fashion Week arsenal is complete. On Monday I’ll have a bit of a “healthy living” review that relates to LFW, so do come back for that. Hope you’ve enjoyed my little fashion week outfits collection… till September, perhaps?! As I’m planning the UK 30-40+ blogger meet up for that month, we’ll have to see πŸ˜‰

Swoon. I have a winter short suit too and I love it. Nothing as joyful as this color though.

This is…adorably amazing!! Stunningly perfect!! Seriously; how cute is a "shorts suit??" The colour and pattern of the fabric is so appealing, too; I'm really glad you shared it with us, Catherine…even if it didn't make the final cut for London Fashion Week. And the yellow bag, chunky scarf, and black hair bow and tights couldn't be a better "supporting cast!!" I think this might be my new favourite look for you!! XO

you so totally pull off this look. The yellow bag truly ratches it up. Thanks for sharing even if you did not wear.

Yes it was converted from trousers to shorts at some point, you can tell! I think it was a genius move… not something I'd be brave enough to actually do to a pair myself!! Thanks my lovely x

This must have been from the time when "go-go" boots were popular, which would have been what you would have worn with this. (Yes, I do harken back to that era.) It fits you perfectly and the lilac is so flattering on you. imo, the bow looks silly, but don't mind me. I don't know anything and can prove it! lol

Ok, where to start. Love the color on you. kind of a lavendar blue, so pretty with the red hair. I am going to do a post eventually on how to dress up your hair bun, and I love the bow , it looks so neat and lovely!
I do like the contrast of the bag as well, it says, Spring!

    • 4 March 2014 / 9:18 am

Thanks Jess! I haven't used the bag in a while, it did seem appropriate for spring πŸ™‚
