Almost Monochrome (It’s Actually White, Grey, Tan & Yellow)

White skinny jeans, grey marl tee & tan heels
I love how this outfit is almost entirely devoid of colour, but as the title suggests it’s actually made up of white… with grey, tan, yellow and silver. (And olive and black, if you count the bag.) I’ve also unintentionally doubled up on necklaces and belts: the two silver necklaces have a little more impact worn together, creating a statement necklace – and when getting dressed I realised I didn’t have a tan belt that was wide enough. Two skinny ones later and I’m good to go.

The white jeans are still going strong – I’m British so that thing about no white after Labor Day is lost on me – and my go-to bag at the moment is this super-practical, gorgeous snakeskin tote from Laura Ashley. I’m rather digging this grey marl with white colour combo; it’s making me wonder how else I can do it with what I have in my wardrobe already (sweat pants aside)!

Are any of you defying the no white after Labor Day rule? Or does it go over your head (like it does me)…?

I never follow the Labor Day rule. I think it's outdated anyway. Wearing white is great all year round! I think your white jeans look so great on you. This is such a cute casual look.

I love grey and white and your styling, the necklace and bracelet are very cool, and the pops of yellow on your fingernails and shoes so fun 🙂

No white after Labour Day goes completely over my head as well. Only heard of it recently and I think it is total nonsense.
I am amazed on how well this outfit looks. Why don't I think of white with tan? It is such an obvious choice and I always forget about it. Oh yes, now I know why… I have tan belts but only tan boots, no tan shoes. And it is not boots time yet.

Okay, I'm American, over 60 years old, and have never understood the no white after Labor Day thing myself. In the past few years, I have been defying it to a small extent, although I must confess I still feel a little self conscious about it. But thanks for the encouragement. I'm going out in white tomorrow. Love your blog, btw.

Hi Catherine, Lovely outfit, I wish you would stop wearing those shoes though, I really love them and have tried every Google search going to try and find a pair but to no avail xx

:(( unfortunately they were from a couple of years ago, Tracey – and I did have a link to them on the only website I could find up until they sold out probably a few months ago. How about eBay? They're by Nine West and the style is called "Unmixed". Good luck honey xx
