Bold Neon Stripes With Muted Denim

Neon striped jacket & teal jeans

Bold neon stripes are just so perfect for summer.

A lot of people shy away from neon but I think when it’s pink it can be super-flattering; I still love the colour combo and scalloped edge of this jacket (which I’ve worn a few times on the blog now). This time I went daytime casual with my muted teal skinny jeans and sandals that have a neon pink trim – and somehow my hairbun ended up being just about the most enormous I’ve ever seen it. I always use a hair donut, but boy – that day it was super-poofy…!

As there’s only a few days of summer (i.e. August) left I think I’m having a wear-everything-summery-before-it-gets-colder kind of panic – every morning at the moment I look at my wardrobe and think What can I wear that’s bright. Reeeeally bright. I’m such a hot weather girl, I check the weather report every morning and evening, and feel a little jump in my heart when I see lots of big round sunshine icons for the day ahead.

Is it just a British thing, checking the weather report like a crazy person every day? Or does everyone the world over do this… tell me in the comments, do!

I live in Florida, and I always am checking the weather before getting dressed! I plan my outfits around it.

Love the bright stripes on the jacket. I live in Melbourne, Australia and I am definitely guilty of checking the weather daily (if not more often). We literally get the proverbial "4 seasons in one day" at times, so I just call it being prepared!

Super jacket. It reminds me of a skirt suit I had by Mondi (old brand). Boy, would I love to still have such a suit.
The sandals are cute but I am not a fan of flat shoes (my hang-up, nothing to do with your shoes).
As for checking the weather… Yes dear. Once or twice a day. Holland and England are very much alike.

    Grate jacket, Catherine.
I love the light in all your photos. I suppose they are taking at dusk.
    Have a grand weekend.

I check the weather every day on the Met Office app and like you, am aiming to wear my summery items again before it gets too cold πŸ™‚

That jacket is adorable with jeans. Unfortunately we still have a few months of summer left here in FL.

The weather in Israel, where I live has not changed yet, unfortunately. The days are still very hot up to 40 c,so jackets or closed shoes are still not an option.
There is also no need to check the weather here as it will be the same, every day for at least a month.
I like your outfit. Combining green with pink is fresh, young and lovely. Sara

I love this look Catherine and no one works neon as well you do! Also loving your hair in this up do. Haha I have the bbc weather app (which is pretty damn awesome, I might add) and I check it constantly! πŸ™‚

    Take care,

I'm in Australia and I check the weather every day too. Even though its winter here it's probably warmer than there I guess. 23 Celsius today? That's 73 Fahrenheit. But we're waiting for the warm weather.

Checking the weather? Not only once a day πŸ˜‰
It is getting fresh here in the mornings and at night and I am wearing my dresses without tights as long as I possibly can to make the most of late summer.

Great how you wear pink with your hair – it looks gorgeous especially in the evening sunlight.

Thank you so much again for winning your giveaway!!

And it's not just a British thing to check the weather everyday. I live on the north end of Vancouver Island on the West Coast of Canada (or as we often hear the "wet" coast) so we check everyday hoping for a few more days of sunshine!

I love you in pink! When I was a redhead, I could never wear it. Made my skin too ruddy. You look fantastic in it. Also, rock that big bun, sister. It looks fabulous. πŸ˜‰

Oooh, I love the scalloped edges! I'd love to put some neon into my wardrobe but I haven't figured out how yet. I'm quite pale, and I've been trying to wear more colours from the Winter palette (good old colour me beautiful!) I suppose neon versions of the colours there would work? Hmmm… I fancy doing a post on colour soon.
I'm a new reader of your blog and I love it so far. I sometimes wonder how I'll dress in my 40's. I'm just heading into my thirties beginning of next year and it's interesting watching my style evolve and my tastes ebb and fade. I really admire your sense of style, you always look beautiful and really at home in what you wear <3

I have a LOT of love for that blazer x
