Christmas Day Black ‘n White Dress

Black & white dress

So I haven’t dropped off the face of the earth – but I did decide to enjoy a little break from blogging over Christmas!

It just so happened that I had a stinking cold as well, but that’s mostly gone now thank goodness… no illness for as long as I can remember and then I come down with something on Christmas Eve. Typical!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and had a chance to relax, eat lots of delicious food and hopefully do a little giving and receiving too. I was a really lucky girl this year, and some of the lovely things I got from loved ones will be making appearances on the blog soon enough.

As my family always get super-duper dressed up on the 25th, I still made an effort despite my sore throat and fuzzy head and decided to wear an old favourite – this Karen Millen dress I bought several years ago, but one I’ve not worn on Christmas Day before. I added a couple of new extras I treated myself to just before Christmas: the pretty feather headband and these amazeballs tights from ASOS: how great are they?! I love how the pattern is on both the front and the back of the tights.

Hope you all enjoy the rest of your Christmas break, whatever holidays you have left. I’ll be back on the case with visiting everyone over the weekend… I have some catching up to do with you all 🙂

29/12/12 P.S. Anyone else think this would make a fabulous and quite modern bridesmaid’s dress/outfit? I think the addition of the feather headband made me think bridesmaid but only when I saw the photos. It would be a nice alternative to the usual dresses that I’m usually not keen on…

Oh it is a bit, isn't it, Brett? Though the headband made me think Great Gatsby – so a teeny bit 1920s too :)) Thank you my dear x

Holy Moses I love that dress and I'm so glad you paired it with patterned tights, definitely takes it to the next level! Thanks for stopping by, I'm so glad you did because it's so refreshing to find someone else who obviously knows fashion and understands my style (there are way too many boring "fashion blogs" right now)!

You have something pretty amazing going on here and I'm glad we have both decided to get even crazier in 2013!!!!!!!!! New follower and admirer!

I love this outfit, so different from your usual style. It is chic and sophisticated and you look super-attractive. The dress is beautiful, both the top and bottom. I love the skirt pleats and soft tissue. The stockings are beautiful and I feel great. In short, a beautiful look. I love your usual style, youthful and casual, but today are breathtakingly beautiful.

I had bronchitis over the holidays (and still have it), and getting dressed up on the 25th definitely helped me feel a bit more festive. You look super cute! The patterned tights are so much fun!

I swear everyone I know got sick this Christmas! Something must be in the air. LOL. I absolutely love that dress and those tights are so amazing. I love the pattern of them and they complement the dress so well. I would love to see a tutorial on how to do that mirror photos thing. Is it something that can be done on PS or PS elements? Hope you have a great weekend! <3

Catherine, you look lovely. I'm sorry to hear that you had a cold over Christmas, but, dang girl, you look pretty. I love the light ruching on the skirt portion of the dress. And could that be sun? We had a few snowflakes here in Vancouver, but nothing that stayed.

Thank you, Sue – and yes it was sunny on Xmas day but it was fffffffreezing! You can really see my goosebumps in the last pic 😉
