Coco Chanel Inspired

2012-08-01 Not Dressed As Lamb 004a

As I’m now on my blog sabbatical (but still here to reply to comments) and these are all scheduled posts, my normal chat about the weather is out the window.

I’ve got to talk about clothes! And nails! And shoes! The whole point to my blog, in other words 😉 I had way more posts to schedule than I expected, so you’ll get a new post every two or three days. I don’t know where all this inspiration came from…?!

The idea for this outfit came about quite simply because the lovely Adrienne of The Rich Life (on a Budget) announced she would feature Chanel inspired outfits for her joint How I Wear My feature on the first of the month. Being a bright colours girl, black and white is always a challenge for me, but I knew I had the basics needed. I drew inspiration from this Pin of Coco herself (or at least I think it is) and this Pin of Kate Moss in a classic Coco Mademoiselle ad. The bowler hat and long beads were the first things I thought of, and the rest went from there. Nothing that’s actually Chanel or even vaguely designer here – cheap beads, £7 trousers and a very old tank – but there’s something about this look that makes you feel a million dollars…!

Happy First of August everybody. That’s nearly Christmas… (sorry that’s not funny is it)

I adore this outfit. I am a black and white fan anyway, but this is really smashing. Wish I had it. Mind you, I would not dare to wear the hat.

You look stunning, Catherine! I love all your bright outfits, but you look fantastic in black and white, too. Very classy 🙂

Loved your Christmas comment – it does start kind of early in England, doesn't it?! At least here we have Thanksgiving to stave off the Christmas madness, but I remember when I lived in Oxford, they started decorating for Christmas in October!
