So should I join the Twitter bandwagon, or not?
I’ve resisted for a long time (for all sorts of reasons), and I was wondering if you, my lovely followers, would let me know if you’re at all interested in following me on Twitter…!
There’s been quite a few occasions since having a blog where I’ve been asked what my Twitter is – I don’t think as a blogger I can ignore it anymore. I have added a poll to my side bar for you to say Yes or No to following me on Twitter… and if you want to expand, leave me a comment to let me know your thoughts. HOWEVER, do please consider that I am generally rubbish at any sort of techno stuff. To explain:
- I don’t have an iPhone, or a smartphone, or a phone with fast internet.
- Even if I did, I live in the country and the signal drops off in a lot of places… like in my house. There’s a signal on the other side of my street, but I couldn’t keep crossing the road just to tweet.
- I only ever think to look at my phone if I actually hear it beep. Friends and family know to wait at least a day or two for a reply to a text from me.
- I have no idea what a “hashtag” is.
If you are a Tweeter, let me know whether it’s practical to tweet without an iPhone, i.e. on your computer only. Is it a pain in the bum to try and tweet any way other than via your phone?

I'm passionately anti-tweet. I don't care how good it's supposed to be for your blog. I also don't use facebook for that matter. Because I have a blog. And that's all I wanted. I wanted someplace online to say what I had to say and do what I wanted to do and a blog fits the bill perfectly for me. Somehow little snips and snatches of inconsequential stuff- and tweets must be inconsequential because important, developed thoughts require at least a paragraph, right?- just doesn't do it for me. I want to, and will continue to, dive in and devour blogs (yours is a favorite) but a tweet simply has no appeal. It's ersatz communication. Give me something that I can sink my teeth into.
I'm on Twitter, or more accurately, I used to be on Twitter. I never look at it anymore. Sometime I get messages to say that so-and-so is following me, but I just ignore it. Twitter can be fun, but it is also full of inane rubbish. I suppose it can bring you more blog followers, so I should get back into it for that reason. I'm not the slightest techno-minded, so had someone help set me up with Twitter. If you joined Twitter, I'd follow you if I was active myself. Otherwise, I wouldn't notice because I never go on it!
Ah, it's the inane rubbish I am most afraid of (and people being more mean than they are on blogs). But again, it's the for self promotion I am really considering it. But thank you, Rosemary – very insightful! C x
Gosh, I just don't have the time to blog, read others blogs, comment and tweet. It is just too much for me. I want to have a life, not be tied to the computer all day long. But, that is just me. If I had an iPhone, I might consider it, but not with just a computer.

I tweet on my computer only, it's no problem, really. try it if you're interested and you'll see how it goes. I admit I started tweeting for promotional reasons (:D), but I started to like it along the way. when I still worked at the most boring job ever, twitter was one of the things that helped keeping me sane (I tweeted like I was on fire during that period). anyway, if you have something to say (short, yet interesting/funny things, that is), go for it.

Definitely you have to be on Twitter. I only twit from my pc and let my phone for my private life.

I've tried Twitter and some of the things I've discovered is that there are on line tools that allow you to see just how many people view your links and/or tweets. But most of the results are cyberbots. Cyberbots from my understanding are just little antennas reaching out trying to find likenesses to attach to. They're not even real people.
If you'd like to get more views on your blog though and more blog followers you can tweet each new blog post in hopes that others will "retweet" what you've just tweeted. That's how it snowballs.
You could tweet some great fashion tips and provide a link back to your blog. But I really despise the kind of tweets where people just state what they're doing at that given moment. That's just lame in my opinion.

I have been tweeting for about a year. I do not use a cell phone and so have done all of my tweeting by my computer. I must say though that it has taken me a long time to understand just how it all works. It is not quite as intuitive as other forms of social media. I'm @RagsMachine.

I've been tempted now and again to join Twitter because it does seem like that's what every blogger is doing, and it seems like a good way to interact with readers, but I do have my issues with it. First, I probably don't need to use another social media/networking platform (already use Facebook, Chictopia, Lookbook, Go Chic or Go Home, and Asos Fashion Finder – last one thanks to you!). Second, I'm afraid that I would never have anything interesting to say! And my third (and rather silly) reason is that I just hate the word "Twitter" and don't want to start using phrases like, "I just tweeted."
That said, if you join Twitter, I will definitely follow your tweets 🙂

Hello Catherine, I tweet only via my computer and I enjoy it! I am not enslaved to it by any means, but I check it a couple of times a day and tweet a couple of times a week. I find it much less invasive of my privacy than Facebook, for example, and a fun,quick way to stay in touch with some blogger friends.
I will def follow you if you decide to hop on board!!
