Dressing up a raincoat

Raincoat: H&M (old – and taken in to make it more fitted), Scarf: F+F, Striped top (just seen): Primark, Cardigan (also just seen): New look, Jeans: Very, Leather boots: Duo, Leather bag: Betty Jackson.Black, Gloves: Accessorize, Frizzed hair: c/o The Rainy British Weather. (Thanks, Mother Nature.)

I’m doing well with my Winter Edition Challenges this week (see my last two posts) – so far I’ve done all three up to now! (Though the Open To Interpretation challenge might be a sticking point. We’ll see.)

Dressing up a coat was another one I was looking forward too when Kayla announced the challenges – I already dressed one up recently here, albeit in a slightly different way with a necklace over the top. I often put fabulous scarves, brooches and necklaces over my outerwear; I simply can’t bear to hide beautiful accessories in the winter.

Now I know what word comes to mind to describe this outfit! (This is from the combination of a long coat, patterned scarf in a bow like a cravat-thing and knee high boots):

Dandy. I just know it’s the word my dad would use to describe this.

Hope everyone’s having a nice week!

I love that flowery bow so much that want to try with the many scarfs I have and never know what to do with them.

I need to take a page from your book and start layering accessories over my coats – I love the look of the scarf tied on the outside.

Such a great way of dressing up a coat 🙂 I am awful with coats and I, too, hate hiding my accessories!

The scarf tied as a bow isn't something I've done yet, but right up my alley. I have a fascination with all things bow. It does make your coat more special.

Inspiring as always. I'm planning on wearing a trench tomorrow. Maybe I'll try it.

Love the bow scarf tie…it's one of my personal favourites to wear because it displays the scarf so beautifully. Those pants are darling too…I have a pair just like them that I've been wearing nonstop this week!

Thank you Sian, so much! I bought the blue raincoat after seeing Carrie in SATC years ago wear a similar one with red trousers… I always remembered the combo! Glad you like it! Catherine x

Love this outfit! Way to make the best of grim weather. I'm so glad I just stumbled upon your blog from Rae Gun's Ramblings. I need some serious fashion inspiration.
