Embroidered Greek-Style Top and Denim at Broadway Tower, the Cotswolds #iwillwearwhatilike

Embroidery and denim: Greek-style embroidered top, wide leg jeans, red lace-up espadrilles | Broadway Tower, The Cotswolds | Not Dressed As Lamb

Sadly this is the last of my outfit posts featuring places in the Cotswolds – luckily this location is no less spectacular than the Rococo gardens or limestone cottages from last week…!

I wore my Greek-style embroidered top on the last day of our mini-break here we visited Broadway Tower (read on for more details about it). It was first worn on (and actually bought for) my Santorini holiday last year, and I was wondering whether it was too “summer holiday” for wearing in the UK. I guess the #iwillwearwhatilike philosophy kicked in because in the end I thought why the hell not – it’s summer(ish), I’m off sightseeing, and I love the top… A no-brainer, really.

So this week’s #iwillwearwhatilike (optional!) theme is embroidery – if you link up something embroidered make sure you add “embroidered/embroidery” somewhere in the description so I know to consider you for one of next week’s featured favourites. A more unusual theme, I’ll admit, but often we have embroidery on clutches and other accessories that we forget about (I know I do).

SHOP THE LOOK:

I surprised myself at how well the top went with the wide leg jeans and those gorgeous red lace-up espadrilles I bought this summer – these three key pieces look like they were made for each other but were, in fact, bought all at separate times. Maybe I’m better at this than I thought…!

The tower that you see here is Broadway Tower – another 18th century construction (a “folly”) that was built on the second highest point in the Cotswolds and has 360 degree views of no less than 16 counties in England and Wales… as you can see the views were stunning.

Its history is as fascinating as it is varied: It was used a printing press and was a country retreat for artists such as William Morris and Edward Burne-Jones, and it has WWII history as well as Cold War connections. Plus there are hoards of red deer in the neighbouring fields. How perfect is all that for a day out?

All I can say is do not miss it if you go to the Cotswolds…!

#iwillwearwhatilike | Not Dressed As Lamb
Thank you for joining the #iwillwearwhatilike link up! This started as a campaign on Instagram in August 2015 where women over 30 wore everything on a journalist’s list of “inappropriate” items for 30+ women (including leopard print, short dresses and oversized sunglasses. Yes, really). It was so popular that I decided to carry it on weekly where women of all ages link up their fabulous style, never mind what anyone tells them not to wear!

The link up goes live every Monday at 3pm UK time and will stay open for a week. Whilst the original article was of course aimed at the 30+, you can be ANY age to link up. The only criteria is that you’re wearing whatever you damn well like!

Love, love, love embroidery on just about anything! That top reminds me of the peasant blouses that were popular in 1920s. So pretty and feminine. Great outfit:)

I've been staring at these pictures for at least ten minutes now, dearest Catherine…the scenery is just SO dreamy and dramatic and romantic and – once again! – like something straight out of a fairytale!! As beautiful as all the photos of your little holiday are, I can only imagine how special experiencing the Cotswolds "for reals" surely was; it may have been your first visit, but I doubt it will be your last!! And I think your embroidered blouse couldn't be more perfect as part of a vacation outfit…it's the ideal balance of cheerful, casual, and smart!! 😀 P.S. I'm absolutely THRILLED to be one of your "featured favourites" from last week…MUAH!! XOXO

Love this outfit, Catherine. It's colorful and denim is my go to for just about anything. Fabulous pictures. They remind me of my trip to Raglan Castle in Wales a few years ago. It was fabulous climbing around the ruins and seeing the countryside from the towers that still remained. Wonderful trip. Thanks for sharing your adventures. – Amy

Such fantastic photography Catherine – I'm so taken with the Cotswolds thanks to your marketing you know! This outfit does indeed look like it was bought as a whole rather than separate parts. I love the wide jeans paired with those espadrilles, a cool look. And the top is very sweet but not overly cutesy thanks to the jeans. Done like an expert eh? Lovely x
