I’ve realised I’ve featured dungarees as well as a jumpsuit this week, though the latter is even easier to style.
I heard – or read – someone say recently that a jumpsuit is basically a dress with legs. (I’m so sorry I can’t remember who said/wrote it.) You just put it on, add shoes, and go.
That’s not to say you shouldn’t accessorise a little more than that, as I’ve done here…! Although I’m not usually a fan of matchy-matchy accessories it seemed right to wear everything tan with this M&S jumpsuit I bought last year (this star print jumpsuit is really similar if you like mine). The sandals are aeons old and still a firm favourite – together with a bit of ankle showing from a rolled up hem they give you an elegant look and do that wonderful thing of elongating your legs.
THAT’S SOMETHING WE DON’T DO ENOUGH OF, US WOMEN – COMPLIMENT OURSELVES! I’M SHOWING OFF ALL MY BEST BITS AND PLAYING DOWN MY LEAST-FAVOURITE BITS HERE.
I don’t know what it is, but I feel very tall, elegant and at my slimmest in this outfit. (That’s something we don’t do enough of, us women – compliment ourselves!) I think it’s because I’m showing off all my best bits and playing down my least-favourite bits here.
Best bits: Waist, arms, shoulders.
Least favourite bits: Hips (hidden with looser fabric), legs (ditto) and ankles (lengthened with the heels).
SHOP THE LOOK:
Not that I’m not doing that “dwelling on my worst bits” thing, far from from it… don’t forget I said how great I felt in this outfit! Rather, I just feel more confident when I’ve dressed certain bits up and certain bits down. I’m also happier hiding the cleavage and playing down my boobs which this jumpsuit does beautifully.
It’s good to know what you like and don’t like about yourself, and to celebrate the former and learn to manage the latter. Though if you like every bit of you – kudos to you, and don’t let anyone tell you anything different!
WHICH OF YOUR FEATURES DO YOU LIKE THE MOST – AND HOW DO YOU DRESS TO SHOW OFF THOSE PARTS? COMMENT BELOW, OR TAKE IT TO TWITTER @NOTLAMB!
M& jumpsuit SS15 (this navy star print jumpsuit looks really similar) | La Redoute tote c/o (this tan tote bag is a really nice shape) | ASOS sandals (I adore these tan ankle strap sandals) | Dorothy Perkins belt (came with SS15 trousers – this is a lovely braided leather belt) | ASOS oversized 70s sunglasses | Gold plated monogram necklace c/o | Bracelets – various | ASOS watch (I like this leather wrap bracelet watch) | Chanel ‘Peridot’ nail polish (Crabtree & Evelyn ‘Avocado’ is a dupe)

I really like this look Catherine. It's very simple but works really, really well. I've been eyeing up a few jumpsuits in the sales. Being on the short side I'll probably have to take about a mile off the leg length but I think it may just be worth it.

This is such a pretty look on you. I love the jumpsuit, but I really love the 70s styling you did with it. The hair, the sunnies, the tan accessories… it looks great. I'm off to look at the star one you linked to now! I still don't have a jumpsuit in my life.
I also am so glad to see the positive message about enjoying our best bits and playing down the things we don't like. Life is too short not to celebrate our best bits, and we ALL have some! xxx
The star jumpsuit is ever so much like this one, Lisa!! And YES to us making the most of our best bits, I agree! Thank you my lovely xx
Very pretty jumpsuit….and I really like your jewelry. The bracelets are lovely!
This is a super cute look on you. And you are so right. It hides what you want to remain hidden, but accentuates the things you want to show off. You look tall and lean, cool and confident! I also like the belt and handbag matching and for fear we go too far the other extreme and never match anything again, I think it is classy to have some things match once in a while. Lovely, Catherine! – Amy

Oh Amy what lovely compliments, thank you so much!! Maybe matchy matchy will make a comeback…?! 😉
Such a gorgeous look on you, Catherine. I love the way that belt clinches your waist – I'm totally useless with belts lol so this is good inspiration for me. Love the jumpsuit too – I am a big fan of them, I think they can be so flattering.
