A Rose Gold Metallic Raincoat With Flared Jeans + the #iwillwearwhatilike Link Up

Rose gold metallic rain coat, oversized round sunglasses | Not Dressed As Lamb
Over the weekend it was mild enough to wear my new rose gold metallic raincoat – obviously it’s perfect for this week’s #iwillwearwhatilike theme of metallics! It’s an item of clothing that’s a total contradiction: Something that’s suitable for walking the dog in a fabric that’s perfect for a full-on drag act. And I absolutely love it.

IT’S AN ITEM OF CLOTHING THAT’S A TOTAL CONTRADICTION: SOMETHING THAT’S SUITABLE FOR WALKING THE DOG IN A FABRIC THAT’S PERFECT FOR A FULL-ON DRAG ACT.

It was the very last one in the only size available – and actually one size too big for me as well as being from the Tall range. But when you see something this fabulous that’s also cheap as chips, you can either buy it too big and take it in, or wear it oversized and proud. It only needed a Fair Isle sweater, flared jeans, Converse and my new oversized round sunglasses for a comfy weekend shopping and running errands.

I’m simply obsessed with all things rose gold right now (hence yesterday’s post featuring two metallics-themed outfits to shop), which is probably something to do with my latest hair colour. And talking of hair, some of you may have already seen on my Instagram feed that I’ve gone even shorter again! It’s a proper shoulder-length bob now with a shorter fringe too – and I’m so glad I finally had the balls to have it cut this length at last. The ease of washing, drying and brushing much less hair makes it all worthwhile, and I think it’s updated my overall look somewhat.

What I didn’t plan for, however, was almost gale-like conditions at the weekend making my new hair look like it hadn’t been brushed for a week. Damn the British weather thinking Devon is actually Chicago…!

Do scroll down and add your outfits (metallics or otherwise) to this week’s iwillwearwhatilike link up – can’t wait to see what you’re wearing this week! Don’t forget to check out last week’s best pink and/or red outfits that I’ve featured too ❤️‍

#iwillwearwhatilike | Not Dressed As Lamb
Thank you for joining the #iwillwearwhatilike link up! This started as a campaign on Instagram in August 2015 where women over 30 wore everything on a journalist’s list of “inappropriate” items for 30+ women (including leopard print, short dresses and oversized sunglasses. Yes, really). It was so popular that I decided to carry it on weekly where women of all ages link up their fabulous style, never mind what anyone tells them not to wear!

RELATED  Second Hand September: Charity Shops and Shopping Your Own Wardrobe

The link up goes live every Monday at 3pm UK time and it’ll stay open for a week. Whilst the original article was of course aimed at the 30+, you can be ANY age to link up. The only criteria is that you’re wearing whatever you damn well like!

An InLinkz Link-up

PLEASE NOTE

This is for linking up what you’ve been wearing (or would like to wear) only. I like to keep it all looking tidy because I’m a bit of a neat-freak, so non-outfit links will be removed – it’s only fair to others linking up!

NEXT WEEK:

I absolutely love this look! It's the kind of thing I'd wear, on a daily basis 😉
The jacket would've had me squealing in the shop…I've got a thing for fabrics that have a kind of 'flip' because it reminds me of my barbie doll days when she had a dress just like it!! Gorgeous! LOVE the hair too, btw.

I like your hair now, but I also liked it when it was longer. As I never have been able to have long hair, that is what I want. Hence I prefer long hair. Cause I cannot have it like that.
As for pink… I will leave that to you and wear red instead. Is also a shade of pink but suits me much better. I have added a link.

Catherine it was a lovely surprise to see that you've featured my snap from last week – thank you so much. I love taking part in the link ups and particularly like finding new stlyes to inspire me. Talking of new styles, well I adore this rose gold jacket of yours. Like you, I'm a huge fan of rose gold, in fact all metallics get my vote. My husband bought me a rose gold watch for Valentine's day which I'm about to feature on Sunday – it was such a treat. Loving the cute sweater and flare jeans combo – great touch x

First off, this gal is not a fan of wind for blogging, even when the proffesionals use fans to get their photos. With that said, I love your new hair, the bob the shape! I had considered once or twice doing something like this.. Anyhow, I love the rose gold raincoat, it is my fav of the metallics, I do like a slate, but love your look with the converse sneakers too. I now need to say, "cheap as chips"! Lovely my friend

I think a wind machine works better if you have long hair, Jess – when it's short it just makes you look like you have no hair!! Thank you Jess, and I'm glad to have contributed to your on-going British-English dictionary…! hehe 😉

    • 24 February 2016 / 1:21 pm

I do too, Elise – I do too!! hehe thank you so much x

Thank you so much Debbie!! I think the hair and the coat were a match made in heaven… I'm so glad it was mild enough the day I had my hair done to wear it!

    • 24 February 2016 / 1:13 pm

Aww Jacqueline thanks so much!! I'll be turning myself rose gold before you know it, haha!!

  12. 22 February 2016 / 10:11 pm

I am utterly in love with that raincoat, Catherine. Suffice to say, I'm an unapologetic magpie when it comes to anything shiny. Which explains the amount of cuffs and rings I tend to wear, they probably weigh more than my gym barbells. So yes, I love all things metallic and shiny, no discrimination whatsoever 🙂

    • 24 February 2016 / 1:12 pm

Hmm I know all about your magpie tendencies, Sheela…!!! Thank you my lovely, you keep rocking all that sparkly stuff no matter what 😉

Very nice rose gold color! Love it! I am not bold enough to wear such coat;). But I love metallic accessories. Ciao, Renata

    • 24 February 2016 / 1:09 pm

I think it's a love-it-or-hate-it coat, Renata – not for everyone I know! But metallic accessories are gorgeous, they make any outfit look oh-so fabulous ann sparkly! Thank you x

  18. 22 February 2016 / 5:15 pm

I've been loving rose gold lately too—well at least my new eyeshadow that is that color! Hmmm…now I might need to go shopping for clothes in that fabulous color!

  20. 22 February 2016 / 4:16 pm

It's a pretty, warm colour and goes with your own colouring. And it's probably more visible in the dark, too, than a darker raincoat (safety first, you don#t want to be run over by a car when you're walking in the evening…).

    • 23 February 2016 / 2:54 pm

Thanks Tiina – and yes to it being visible… you only need the tiniest chink of light and it's reflected everywhere!! 😉

    • 23 February 2016 / 2:50 pm

Thank you so much Dawn Lucy – I think I need to stop at some point with the rose gold though!! x

  21. 22 February 2016 / 4:03 pm

The color of your rain coat is just lovely! I sometimes wish it would rain more in SoCal so I could at least wear the one rain coat that I do have 😛

    Monica.

    • 23 February 2016 / 2:50 pm

Oh believe me, Monica – you don't want as much rain as we have in the UK…!!!! Thank you sweetie x

  22. 22 February 2016 / 3:51 pm

The raincoat is perfect for you! I can see why you are obsessed with rose gold as it looks so good on you!

  23. 22 February 2016 / 3:51 pm

I've already professed my love for your gorgeous hair on IG , but shall say it again. STUNNING!!!! Love love love the new 'doo! You look fabulous. And what a brilliant coat, that should cheer up all this dank dark weather we've been having! Wishing you a lovely week sweetie and as always thanks for hosting xxx

    • 22 February 2016 / 11:42 pm

My pleasure Rachel – and thank you!! We've both been brave little soldiers, chopping our hair off, haven't we…?! ;)) xx

  24. 22 February 2016 / 3:36 pm

This is the prettiest raincoat I think I've ever seen, dearest Catherine!! All that shimmery, rose gold fabulousness would certainly brighten even the gloomiest day…and we've had plenty of those in Vancouver recently, too!! Plus – this new 'do of yours is inspiring some SERIOUS hair envy over here!! I've been growing my own a little bit longer in the hopes of attaining "bob" status at some point…if I don't end up having it all chopped off again in frustration over its current " in between-ness!!" XOXO
