Red Fit n Flare Christmas Day Dress With Patterned Tights

Red Fit n Flare Christmas Day Dress With Patterned Tights

So another Christmas Day has been and gone, and every year I do an outfit post featuring what I wore on the day.

We always dress up at our family gathering, and as I’m finishing the year with a poorly back/leg, this year deserved a bright colour to cheer me up: What could be better (and brighter) than a red fit n flare dress?

The outfit actually started with the lovely tassel pendant from Yosa, a gift from my blogging BFF Rachel. I knew it would look gorgeous on a solid, bold colour, so ta-dah! One Christmassy red dress accessorised with black, gold and some long-forgotten patterned tights.

It strangely echoes what I wore for Christmas Day last year, which was effectively the same style dress but in baby blue. I also wore the same heels, but didn’t realise that till I looked back on what I wore writing this post. I guess if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it…!

TA-DAH! ONE CHRISTMASSY RED DRESS ACCESSORISED WITH BLACK, GOLD AND SOME LONG-FORGOTTEN PATTERNED TIGHTS

You may be surprised to see me wearing heels, considering I have a slipped disc (though it’s sciatica and the pain is in my leg, not my back). I was determined to wear some pretty heels, even if they were just for sitting around and these photos. However, I found that a medium block heel does give me a little relief as flats stretch my hamstring (the painful part) too much. I can’t walk very far so ironically, a pair of heels just for hobbling around the house has turned out to be kinda practical…!

One last thing: Please excuse the hair, it was raining and blowing a gale that day and when we got back inside I looked like I’d been dragged backwards through the proverbial hedge. Not a fun photo shoot 🙁

What did you wear for Christmas Day – did you get dressed up? Tell me in the comments or tweet me @notlamb!

Catherine, this ensemble made me want to go back to my old days of "dressing up" for Christmas day. You look so lovely and yet comfy at the same time. It's such a wonderful look, love that tassle necklace and the wonderful added touch of your pattern tights and fabulous shoes as well, but that dress is just devine.

Such a lovely dress. I'm about to venture into the realms of red this year as it's not a colour I've worn before, and a red dress is on my list. I love your accessories, in particular the pendant. Hope that you continue to get some improvement of your symptoms.

What a lovely outfit for Christmas day. Understated yet stylish. Those tights, necklace and heels are the finishing touches. Especially love those tights!
Happy New Year to you Catherine and I hope you recover soon from your slipped disc. That really is no fun at all!

I so love the patterned tights – wish they made more of them in thigh highs.

Love the red dress, Catherine. Hope your back is better soon. I have ongoing back and hip issues…one thing sets off another. Joy. Physio helps, and then doing the home exercises faithfully. Every day. Otherwise, Hubby will go on that ski week all by himself. Hope you have a Happy New Year, Catherine. Read your blog regularly. Love the link-up. And always try to put into practice your "blogger tips." So generous of you to write those posts.

So sorry about the back/leg pain; I hope it'll go away soon!

I love the dress, heels, & patterned tights! And the necklace is stunning – you created the perfect backdrop for it!

On Christmas day, I wore black faux leather leggings, a Merlot tunic, a short, black blazer, black booties with a heel, and a layered silver necklace.
