Grey Leather & Suede Booties with Boyfriend Jeans #iwillwearwhatilike

Black and white window-pane check coat, boyfriend jeans, grey booties
Another Monday, another #iwillwearwhatilike link up: This week is all about leather and/or suede!

Hopefully this should be an easy one for this time of year, but I’m hoping to see some leather trousers or maybe a suede coat or two. Make it a good one to get featured next week – but as always the theme is optional so scroll down for the how-to!

I actually wore this outfit about a month ago and my scheduling has got a bit mixed up with all those holiday outfits I posted. I’d just had my hair lopped off and coloured rose gold (that very day) so I was feeling a bit sassy with my new shorter hair! I’m used to it now and am so glad I chopped it off – it really needed it and it’s so much easier to look after now.

My contribution to this week’s theme are these grey booties from Naturalizer which are made of both leather and suede. I’m really getting into grey as an alternative neutral to black this autumn: It’s softer and easier to style than black sometimes. Plus who knew that it would look so good with a pair of mid wash boyfriend jeans?

Thanks so much for linking up – I hope you enjoyed the Wearing My Wedding Dress challenge last week! I was so impressed by how many of you lovely ladies got your dresses/outfits out and photographed them for the link up. It was a fun challenge (and don’t forget to scroll down to see my faves from the link up)!

What do you think of my shorter hair – and what is your neutral of choice at the moment? Let me know in the comments or tweet me @notlamb!

#iwillwearwhatilike link up | Not Dressed As Lamb

Thank you for joining my new #iwillwearwhatilike link up! This started as a campaign on Instagram in August 2015 where women over 30 wore everything on a journalist’s list of “inappropriate” items for 30+ women (including leopard print, short dresses and oversized sunglasses. Yes, really). It was so popular that I decided to carry it on weekly where women of all ages link up their fabulous style, never mind what anyone tells them not to wear!

So link up all your fabulous outfits (or shoes, accessories, make-up, etc.) every Monday at 3pm UK time – it’ll stay open for a week. Whilst the original article was of course aimed at the 30+, you can be ANY age to link up. The only criteria is that you’re wearing whatever you damn well like!

The #iwillwearwhatilike Wearing My Wedding Dress challenge

My favourite WEARING MY WEDDING DRESS outfits from last week’s link up – these fabulous ladies put on their wedding dresses and posted pictures for us anything up to 40 years after the event…!

I feel bad that I have not commented on your hair yet ( been crazy busy) but you look stunning, loving the colour. Plus this outfit is fantastic.

  4. 18 November 2015 / 7:26 am

I'll be honest, dearest Catherine…it's not the new length of your hair that I noticed as much as the gloriously glowy new colour!! Sooo pretty on you!! 🙂 The leather and suede booties are a hit, too; I've been wearing a lot of grey myself recently, and I wholeheartedly welcome you to the '"fifty shades" fan club (wink wink!!) XOXO

I really like the coat! And the grey booties look great (and I assume are comfortable…)!

  6. 18 November 2015 / 1:28 am

As you probably know, my neutral this season is grey. And all shades, isn't it the best? Those booties are fabulous, perfect height and perfect color. My collection of grey footwear is almost as bad as my black. I absolutely adore your new hair cut.
Tried to come up with a fun suede cape but I was crazy (stupid) enough not to buy this amazing vintage one I found while visiting Niagra Falls last month. Yep, still kicking myself. So the hat will have to do this week.

  7. 17 November 2015 / 10:52 am

Love the look! So on trend with the coat and booties… Also, the dark red bag ties it all in

Love that look. It's absolutely my kind of style. Boyish, yet with an undeniable touch of femminine.

    Have a great week!

    LOVE your coat!

Sassy and gorgeous my beautiful friend! Love gray, it's my favorite neutral all year 'round. Love the booties, the coat and that delicious lavender mani! Have a fabulous week!

Ummm, I went overboard this time Catherine! I chose five of my favorite leather/suede posts, and I could have found more, but then I was like, Ann! Enough is enough!!

Can you tell I like this material!? Hahah! You asked about our neutrals of the season. Mine is undoubtedly snake print–as you can see by the first link I linked up.

And yes, last week was such fun!! At Christmas when I'm home, I think I'll pull mine out just for the fun of it!

    Have a great week Catherine!

Ahhh another pair of gorgeous grey boots! I finally bought a pair with a low heel after searching forever. Love yours, and your haircut looks so lovely framing your face! I always love the windowpane pattern, looks great with this look! I am inspired to wear some jeans next week, friend!
    Enjoying your linkup!

Hmm I've been thinking about flat knee length boots, Jess… Don't encourage me!! Thak you sweetie x

  13. 16 November 2015 / 10:58 pm

Grey is one of my very favorite colors, I wear it often. It just works with so many looks. Love that you paired the grey colored necklace with the outfit. It pulls it all together. Great look! Thank you for the great link up, I didn't realize you had this new link up, so glad I know now.

You sound like a girl after my own heart, Lynn – I'm not a huge fan of black either…! Though I have been adding more to my wardrobe in recent years, I have to admit. And your wardrobe sounds like a dream with all those charity shop finds!!

And thank you re. the hair… I'm used to it now but it took me aaaaaages to actually take the plunge 🙂

  15. 16 November 2015 / 8:17 pm

Love your hair! I've been thinking of going a little shorter myself. I guess besides black, I really like to use brown as a neutral.

    • 16 November 2015 / 10:29 pm

I don't have much brown, Laurie, but I do favour tan as a neutral a lot…! And thank you – if anything shorter hair is just easier to look after!!

  16. 16 November 2015 / 7:18 pm

Yes, very nice hair. Hope you can get used to the side parting. Oh wait a minute, you always had one. It looks really beautiful. As does your outfit. Cute booties. I have reinstated my grey boots after leaving them in my wardrobe for 2 years (shame on me).
Joining you this time on iwearwhatilike with real leather jogging trousers haha. That will teach them.
    Greetje

    • 16 November 2015 / 10:28 pm

I do swing a bit between side and centre parting, Greetje – though side usually wins. And wow, leather jogging pants! I'll be checking those out…!! Thanks sweetie x

  17. 16 November 2015 / 6:58 pm

Your hair looks light and swingy. Love it, the colour too.
No leather for me this week, just faux, but I love the looks I'm seeing here. I also like grey as a neutral but don't have much of it. Thanks for your link-up party!

    • 16 November 2015 / 10:27 pm

Aww Melanie thank you – and thank you also for linking up! xx

  18. 16 November 2015 / 6:32 pm

Oh, Catherine…..Bold patterns next week?!?!? Yipeeee.
I can't wait to see what these fabulous ladies come up with (and you!).
Firstly, I need to apologise for inundating your linky with leather related posts.
    I got a little excited!
But, you have made me realise I have a lack of suede items in my wardrobe…..hmmmm…must remedy that!
    Back to you…
This is such a great look. Casual and chic. That windowpane coat has been an absolute gem. It goes with everything! And such a bargain too. Asda has some great items sometimes.
Those boots are fab…..and I thought naturalizer was a frumpy brand (or something my mum would buy….sorry mum!).
I am happy to be wrong.
They look very comfortable and chic, grey footwear is so versatile and stylish.
    Beautiful, as always!

P.S…I love your sheer lip colour. So pretty.

No problem about all the link ups, Samantha!! And yes, the coat was a gem… It really does look good with everything! Thank you so much my lovely xo

  19. 16 November 2015 / 5:37 pm

I'm loving the grey boots – they're stunning and go so well with you jeans. Thank you so much, btw, for featuring me in my wedding dress (yes, 40 years ago). It was such fun getting it out of my cupboard and wearing it again – what a great idea. I'll be joining you tomorrow with my leather boots and bag.

    • 16 November 2015 / 10:07 pm

It was my pleasure to feature you, Penny – I had to when you still looked so great in your wedding 40 years on!! Thank you sweetie x

  20. 16 November 2015 / 5:21 pm

I am soooo excited about your choice for this weeks link up – I am a bit of a leather fan so it was hard to choose just one outfit hence the 2 from me this time. Thank you so much for hosting Catherine, it's such fun isn't it?
I'm loving your grey boots, obviously (also massive fan of grey) but the new haircut is stunning girl xxx

    • 16 November 2015 / 10:05 pm

Michelle you're allowed to link up as many as you like – so link away…!! Leather's quite an easy one (bags, shoes, biker jackets) but to see leather skirts or suede coats is a bit more unusual (and lush). And thank you for the lovely compliments, you're such a sweetheart! xo

  21. 16 November 2015 / 5:20 pm

Loving the new shorter length (even if it's a month old) and I am all about leather in the fall. I need to add more suede to my closet. Thank you for hosting and have a fab day!

  22. 16 November 2015 / 5:19 pm

    Looking wonderful, as always!
I've been reading your blog for just over a year now (The Barefaced Chic turned one a few day ago) and I don't think I've missed a post. From the very first email I sent to you asking for help with one of my first Barefaced posts you've been an absolute gem!
Thanks for being such a sharing blogger 🙂
    Much love
    Michelle xx

    • 16 November 2015 / 10:02 pm

Aww Michelle what a lovely comment, I can't believe where the time has gone!! You're a sweetheart, thank you so much xoxo

  23. 16 November 2015 / 5:06 pm

Definitely "guilty" of this one, Catherine 😉 Just going through my recent posts and realise, I am wearing my faux leather leggings over and over again! They are so versatile and I think I might get another pair… maybe real leather this time.
Your grey booties are awesome and I agree, it is a fantastic neutral tone for this season!

Naturalizer boots are so comfortable and I love how they mix leather and suede. I have a similar pair just waiting for the color weather.

    Monica.

    • 16 November 2015 / 4:34 pm

Yep – mine are really comfy too, Monica! The leather/suede mix adds that something extra I think… Thanks sweetie x

Loving your new hairstyle! It looks lighter and very youthful, and it's perfectly in tune with this very modern outfit.
