Instagram Sneak Peek into My Santorini Holiday (Part One)

Bikini, kaftan, wide-brimmed hat and sunset
As you may have more than slightly gathered from my Instagram feed over the last few days, I’m currently in Santorini, Greece – and having the absolute time of my life in what must be one of the most stunning islands in the world.

All my posts for the two weeks I’m here have been scheduled in advance so there’s no break in service, but I did leave a couple of gaps in the hopes that there may be a few Instagram shots to share with you.

I think I totally underestimated just how Instagram-worthy everything in Santorini is. From blue-domed churches to incredible sunsets, to pools galore to stunning sea views, to the bright pink bougainvillaea flowers to endless swathes of white, it’s picturesque beyond belief. I had so many images I wanted to share on Instagram but didn’t for fear of turning people off (every time I post something I lose followers), so I’ve added in some of the best images – plus a few unposted ones – in a montage below.

[I’ve heard that some people resent bloggers’ holiday photos, but as I haven’t been on a holiday abroad in the sun for 12 years I’m not going to apologise…!]

To see what happens the rest of the week make sure you’re following me on Instagram here (or like my Facebook page if you’re not an Instagrammer to see my daily “postcard”), and be sure to come back next Friday for part two of my Santorini adventures.

What are your favourite types of holiday? Have you ever been to anywhere you’d consider “paradise”? Do share in the comments!

I love to see holiday photos too, Stephanie – sometimes it's better than photos of a rainy, grey Uk…! Thanks sweetie x

Lovely pictures but intensely dislike the filter you've used. It's actually taken away from the beauty of the scenery. I'm going myself in about a month and a half so shall look forward to seeing all the sights in the colour nature/man intended!
Sorry – personal opinion filters aren't always necessary and actually distract from the image.
glad you had a nice holiday though…

Sorry you think so, Sarah – I don't actually use a filter, however…! I used the same tweaks on these pictures that I use for all my Instagram photos so that I keep a consistency with my feed: My blog is my livelihood so having a recognisable brand is all-important. I have my own holiday "snaps" without any tweaks for my own pleasure, so keeping the two separate works for me (and it means I don't have to sacrifice my online image which *is* actually necessary for me).

Personally I do like my feed to have that consistency – even if I wasn't doing it as my job – I'm a big visual person (being a photographer) so how the whole feed looks matters to me as much as each individual shot does.

I'm sorry that it doesn't do it for you, but there are thousands of posts under the Santorini hashtag – there'll be plenty of unfiltered photos for you to see…! x

It looks idyllic! I have no idea why you lose followers when you post holiday pics to Instagram. You'd think followers would be pleased to see their fave blogger showing a different aspect of her/his life. Ah well, such is life – and you my dear, are certainly living it πŸ™‚
    Much love xx

Thank you lovely Michelle! I suppose at least the real followers continue to follow, don't they…?!
