Springtime Brights | Mustard Polka Dot Blazer, Pink Chinos, Taupe Mules

Springtime brights: Mustard polka dot blazer, pink chinos, taupe mules
It’s so hard not to constantly mention the British weather when it’s May and it’s still cold.

In the sun you’re okay but when you’re in shadow or the sun goes behind a cloud it’s freezing. But it seems wrong to wear anything other that springtime brights at this time of year, and I’ve found this lovely combination of mustard polka dots and bubblegum pink offset with some neutrals.

The sheer blazer is years old (worn many times, last seen here with blush pink and here with cobalt) and the were paired with (yet more) pink and yellow at Easter. So one day I’ll wear them with a colour other than yellow, but for now I’m continuing the dressing-like-an-Easter-egg theme throughout the summer.

I did tone it down a little with a and fantastically comfy new from Asos (I love these!) but upped the bling with and a selection of some of the lovely warm-toned and gold jewellery I was kindly given by SENCE Copenhagen. The warm brights of this outfit belie how cold I was here – we Brits live in hope for summer to arrive sometime before Christmas…!

I’m so pleased with my neutral basics I’ve bought for summer – the top and the mules – what basics have you bought recently? If you can recommend anything do share in the comments 🙂

Sorry about the lousy weather. Come North to Alaska. Here in the Interior it is quite warm (>27C). I love the combination of mustard and pink. Thanks for the inspiration. Have a nice weekend

That's so not fair, Nicole, when you're so much further north than us!! Hehe seriously though – if we get 27C in the UK it's quite freaky and everyone moans about hot it is (everyone except me, that is). Thank you so much sweetie x

Love this color combination, so unexpected yet fun! It's been raining a bucketload here in Denver, so I decided to dress in spring colors/prints since the weather isn't cooperating! You're doing the same and I love it! jodie

Oh gosh I didn't realise you'd get so much rain in Colorado, Jodie…?!! Thank you for your lovely compliment :))

You're so right about the weather. It just started raining again here. Apparently the 8 hour break we had (while I was asleep no less) was probably "summer" for us up here in the highlands. I just booked a ticket back to the US for a week in June. Here's hoping that I'll have at least one week of warmth before we revert back to winter…

Crikey yes I do hope you get to have your week's summer, Kristin… it must be much worse for you in Scotland – it's bad enough down here in Devon! x

I didn't realize that blazer was sheer before now; it's just one of the coolest pieces, isn't it? And I love it paired with pink!

Thank you Gracey – yes I kinda forget that you can see through it, like here with the white top underneath… though I'm not really too bothered! x

Ah I love all the colours together in this outfit. I'm having a right mare dressing for this weather!

So hard, isn't it Sophie? Warm one minute, cold the next…!! Thank you sweetie x

Hmmm lovely. I like the combination of colours. That second photo (close-up) is really pretty with the earrings. If I had a photo like that I would make it my new avatar.

Aww thank you Greetje – I really liked that photo too! Only trouble is I'm wearing sunnies, and I do prefer not to be wearing them in my avatar. I'll change mine one day when the right photo comes along I'm sure, mine's two years old now!! Thank you sweetie, glad you liked it 🙂

Fantastic outfit! You do mixing like noone else :-). Great basics recently… – I just bought a black summer dress (I don't have much black), now I just need some summer!

I don't have much black either, Mette, though I think a black summer dress can be quite lovely, probably nicer than in winter. And thank you so much for your lovely comment! x

You look amazing. I love those trousers, they are so cute. I love the travel cup too, I'll have a look at New Look 🙂

    • 23 May 2015 / 10:18 am

Thank you Anca!! The travel cup was an impulse purchase – you know the things displayed by the till – so I don't know if they're in all New Look stores. They're not on their website, unfortunately, I checked 🙁

Love your blazer. Sometimes the best stuff is what we already have. Lx
