Ad | Light Wash NYDJ Skinnies and Sequinned Breton Stripes

Sequinned Breton striped top, light wash NYDJ skinny jeans, pointed flats

I think it’s true that finding the perfect pair of jeans is a bit like finding the holy grail (almost impossible, in other words).

I have to admit I’ve wanted to try some of the well-known pricier brands for a while but haven’t for fear of making an expensive mistake. One of those brands was NYDJ – known for their comfort as well as their Lift Tuck Technology® which is “designed to make you look and feel a size smaller”. I was asked to review a pair and, as with all my brand collaborations, the review is 100% honest (but this time I want to really, really stress that fact).

Disclosure: I have written this post in collaboration with NYDJ. All content is original, however, and opinions are my own and 100% honest.

The best thing I can say about these jeans is that I honestly haven’t wanted to wear anything else since I tried them on. Except for going to bed, exercising or needing to change for something where jeans weren’t really acceptable (and showering!), I’ve pretty much worn these skinny blue lightweight denim jeans every day for more than a week, they’re so comfy. In other words, everything I’d heard about NYDJ was true, and I can totally understand why women swear by them. continued >>

They are unbelievably comfortable. As comfortable as wearing pyjama bottoms or leggings, despite them being skinnies. These are officially the comfiest skinny jeans I own, and that’s thanks to the stretch. Nor have they lost their shape in all that wearing. I’m really rather pleased with what the Lift Tuck did to my derrière (see photo below!), and the other thing I like about these skinnies is that the ankles aren’t too tight. I quite like a little looseness around that part of the the leg and it means when you roll them up they’re the perfect width, which I think is a lot more flattering than super-skinny ankles.

As far as the styling goes, I’m so glad I got this light blue wash as they’re a great colour for the summer and look good with just about every pair of flats I have (correction: every pair) – a hard task for flats. On this day I kept it simple with my sequinned stripe Breton top and pointed toe block heel flats with a slick of red lippie.

Sizing: NYDJ recommend you go a size down – I was given a pair one size down and another two sizes down to try – I kept the smaller pair, so don’t be afraid to go TWO sizes smaller than your normal size. I’m also a little heavier at the moment so that’s another fantastic thing about the stretch: if you put on a few pounds you can still wear them because they’ll stretch with you, unlike most of my other skinnies (which I can’t physically get on at the moment).

So there you go – a glowing review, and deservedly so in my opinion. I know some people don’t like stretch in jeans, but if you do (and especially if you’re prone to a bit of weight fluctuation in the bum/thigh area like me) then I honestly can’t recommend NYDJ enough. They’re worth every penny.

I have to admit that I haven't heard of this make before but probably because I stick to the same old, same old. I always carry my weight around my bot and thighs so its great to hear about jeans that are flattering for my shape. They look fabulous on you and like you I like the fit around the ankles, it looks very flattering.. I may have to invest !:-) x

From what you've described it does sound like they'd be ideal for you, Kareema – they're definitely worth trying! That's where I carry my weight too (rather than round the waist), and they fitted me like a dream. And yessssss to the ankle fit, so much better than super tight ankles!

      Thanks hun :))

The comfort really has to be seen (tried) to be believed, Lynda!! I'm so convinced that expensive jeans really are the worth the money people claim them to be. And if they're not right, you just send them back, eh?!! xx

Like Annette I have a few pairs of NYDJ. And I think they are fabulous too. They do stretch a bit more when they get older, but hey.. They all do that.
Looking terrific in your light blue ones. Fantastic top.

I think only jeans with zero stretch don't get a little looser, Greetje – but those ones are so unforgiving!!! Thanks so much, so glad you're a fellow NYDJ lover too! x

They look fabulous on you, Catherine! I have 2 pairs of NYDJ and couldn't agree more – they are very comfortable and look great at the same time. I also ordered 1 size smaller.

Thank you so much, Annette – I'm amazed at just how much of a following they have! So many women seem to swear by them, and I can completely see why :))

I nearly bought a patterned pair last week, but tbh he price put me off a bit, am rethinking that decision in light of how great you look!

Thank you Sarah – don't forget if they're not right you can just send them back…! :))

It's so good for the summer, isn't it JJ?! They're my perfect summer jean! Thank you so much my lovely xoxo

They look great Catherine. I just bought a pair of skinny, white NYDJ jeans. I went two sizes down as well. When I was given the six 6 by my friend who works at Nordstrom, I just laughed. In my dreams, I said. I only wear a size six if I'm having a flashback to my twenties. She was right. They fit perfectly. And I love, love them when I didn't think I would at all.

So I was right about the two sizes down, Susan…! It makes you feel a bit big-headed (if you see what I mean), thinking "Oh yeah right, I'm a size x"!!! Great to hear you love them too, thank you hun x

I only have NYDJ cords, and I love them, I did find the sizing varied, one pair is two sizes down, the other two are one size down. Now that the weather is warmer, I am disappointed can't really wear them. Good to know the denim is comfy too. I will have to give them a try. Jeans are hard for me to find a pair a really like.

Denim is so hard to get right, isn't it Su-z? But to find a pair I liked so much that I could actually wear all day comfortably – and sit down in, and go on a long car journey in (I never usually wear skinnies for that) was actually quite amazing! x

I really like the sequined top. I like having stretch in my jeans.

    • 30 April 2015 / 1:13 pm

      Thanks Jess – I don't think I realised I like stretch in my jeans until I tried these on…!! C x

That is indeed a nice lift 😀 in the third photo! I'm not a jeans girl at the moment, I can't find any in Denmark that will contain my thighs (I just learned they're called thunder thighs!), but next time I'm in the UK I'll look out for this brand. Your sparkly top is lovely!

    • 29 April 2015 / 7:26 pm

Hehe thank you, Tine…!!! NYDJ is actually an American brand, but they've launched in the UK and Europe. So just click through to shipping, you'll see the details about delivery to Denmark 🙂
