How to Do Transitional Season Dressing | Black and Camel Layers With Denim

Long line camel blazer, boyfriend jeans, leopard trilby, black slip on sneakers
So although I’ve been looking towards to spring with my recent posts of florals with white checks, a gingham summer dress and a SS15 nautical style outfit, it doesn’t mean we’re quite into balmy temperatures just yet in the UK.

It’s that time of year when you need to do the transitional season dressing thing, where you layer up in the morning and then slowly take off the layers as the sun warms up the day.

Which was what I thought was going to happen last weekend, hence a lot of camel and black layers (my long line blazer, scarf, patterned tights under jeans again, my Fair Isle knit). Except that the sun didn’t really come out that much, and the day didn’t warm up that much. Weather reports say we’re going to get some much more spring-like milder temperatures at the weekend, so here’s hoping.

Oh! and not forgetting my new slip on sneakers: Yes I know I’m very late to the party with these… I don’t know why I didn’t get round to buying any last year. I went for the black mock-croc slip ons from Asos and they’re so comfy and so perfect with boyfriend jeans. Better late than never 😉

Have you gone for the slip on sneaker-style shoe like these? Are there any other trends that have been around for a while that you’re thinking of getting this year (leather trousers, dungarees, patchwork jeans, white Birkenstocks)? Do share in the comments!

I tried these shoes and they look ridiculous on me AND I slip out of them (probably kept trying ones that were too big haha).
Nice look. Those hats do look fantastic on you.

Aww that's a shame, Greetje – if it's any consolation I try on a LOT of things that I see and love and then they look awful on me… not everything looks as good as we hope which can be so frustrating!! ;)))
      Thanks my lovely x

Thanks hun… I've worn the hat a lot on the blog over the years and it always gets such a positive response!!

There you go with your cute hats again. I'm a layer girl for sure! Camel and black is such a classic beautiful look. I LOVE leather "look" trousers! And slip on sneakers? Comfortable and it doesn't take 10 minutes to put them on and take them off – love.

It is confusing at the moment, Lauren – cold one day, warm the next…! Thank goodness for layering 🙂 thank you hun xx

I love your nail polish and the neutral colors of this outfit. I have 2 pair of slip on sneakers and love them and wear them all the time. If I could wear them more often, I would buy more of them.

I don't know why I haven't bought more, Alice – it might be because I have so any brogues…?! Thanks my lovely, so glad you liked it x

I'm really pleased with mine, Sophie… the long line style is proving to be a great piece between a coat and a blazer 🙂 Thank you!

Definitely digging the kimono inspired trends this spring/summer! I love slip on sneakers, they're the most wonderful thing that has ever happened to me since Hugh Jackman! 😀 Adore your pair, they're awesome with the jeans! Adore the rings too!

    • 8 March 2015 / 3:41 pm

Haha I wish I could get Hugh Jackman to "happen" to me, Keit…!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you so much hun x

Love the nails. The matte coat makes them special. I have matte nail polish, but the special coat is better, I could use it with any nail polish.

Matte nail polish top coat is excellent, Anca! I haven't actually bought any coloured matte polish so I have the choice of making any colour I like matte. Thanks sweetie x

That's a lovely compliment, thank you so much!!

Those slip-ons totally rock, C. I am looking for similar for Spring/Summer. Fab head to toe. xox

Thanks lovely Patti!! I think these would really suit you…!! x

That coat looks great. With the weather warming up slightly I have been thinking about getting a more lightweight coat.
I love the colour on your nails.

I got it just before the real cold cold happened last year, Rubi, and I'm glad it's warmed up just enough to wear it this side of winter now! It's not lined but with knitwear and layers it's just right :))
      Thank you x
