Christmas Day Outfit | Blue Fit-n-Flare Dress With a Touch of Disney

Pale blue fit-n-flare eyelet dress
Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! As our whole family really dresses up for Christmas Day I like to share the outfit I wore: this year I wore my pale blue fit-n-flare dress from Hobbs that I first wore back in May. The 1950s style is so me and I hadn't worn it since that day so it was my first choice for the 25th. The full skirt helped with the inevitable food onslaught(!) and I added some festive touches with my red two-tone heels and some drop crystal earrings.

The star of the show (for me, at least) was the fabulous gold Mickey Mouse watch that Mr. Lamb (Silver Londoner) got me for Christmas - apart from the gold it's exactly the same as my very first watch. I love presents that remind you of your childhood, so this was an absolute winner for me. Next year I'm hoping for that Kenner Princess Leia doll ;)

Did you receive any fabulous presents for Christmas? And did you own a Mickey Mouse watch like me - I find a lot of people say that's what they had for their first watch!

Some of My Favourite Fun and Fabulous Links - December 2014

Print
Happy Boxing Day - I hope you had a wonderful Christmas!

I have wanted to share some of my favourite links with you in a post on the blog for ages. There are so many things I read in blogs and online that I think are just superb (and well worth sharing). Quite a few bloggers do these sorts of posts and I always love reading them: I thought it fitting to do one on Boxing Day - great for browsing while you're in a turkey and chocolate-induced food coma!

If this is something you'd like to see on a regular basis let me know in the comments :)

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Brooke looks like she stepped right out of a 1970s edition of Vogue.

"3 Months to Better Health". Follow Emma's journey to a more healthy her (done for all the right reasons).

I wish I could pull off mega-wide skinny flares like Victoria.

Hello Giggles discusses a harmful body image compliment we need to stop giving.

Emma is wearing gorgeous grey pastels and a to-die-for check coat (well, I am obsessed with all things check this winter).

Paintbrushes sculpted into beautiful women. Does exactly what it says on the tin.

Roisin's expertly-written view on Julia Roberts without make-up (hard to believe but this blogger is still only a teenager).

Find out why Keit's eyelash sweater "outlines [her] boobs quite nicely".

If Fleur East isn't a megastar within two years I will eat my own head (Simon Cowell you can quote me on that).

The husband has done pattern mixing pretty well with a polka dot tie and striped shirt (my style must be rubbing off on him).

The award for the most gorgeous Christmas party outfit undoubtedly goes to Liz in her lace dress and faux fur jacket.

Franziska has written an observant and insightful post about bloggers that digitally alter themselves: "Blogging started because real women wanted to show their real lives as opposed to what most of print media was, so the fact that bloggers are now faking it "to make it" just seems backward".

I'm thinking about copying Sophie Dahl's electric blue winged eyeliner (make up by Lisa Eldridge).

Great tips on how to style your Instagram photos like a blogger.

Katy answers some Christmas "would you rather" questions. I'm totally in agreement on the Rudolph/elf question.

Blair's all-white outfit may be Gucci but you could totally recreate this on the high street (January sales, anyone)?

Em's beautiful alabaster skin sets off her bold red lips to perfection.

Finally - if you remember David Bowie and Mick Jagger's cringeworthy music video from 1985 you'll laugh and cringe at this in equal measures:

(If you don't know who Mick Jagger is - you might know him better as Georgia May Jagger's dad...?)

Triple Pattern Mixing | A Winter Outfit of Tartan, Plaid and Checks

Triple plaid pattern mixing: reds and greys #winter #style
So only one more sleep till Christmas, and as if you weren't excited enough I've only gone and given you not two but THREE mixed patterns in one outfit. Don't say I don't spoil you...!

Funnily enough I didn't actually realise there were three patterns in this outfit when I wore it (I forgot the coat was checked). In my usual haphazard way of dressing I knew I wanted to wear one particular item (the trousers), then needed something practical (the coat) and then insisted on adding a current favourite (the oversized tartan scarf). I went by colour combination only: a mixture of reds and greys this time which all worked rather nicely together. I'm not sure when I'll stop wearing the tartan scarves, but unless we have a freaky heatwave here in the UK it won't be any time soon...!

Have a WONDERFUL Christmas everyone - if there are any other over-excited pattern mixers out there do shout! Or just shout Happy Christmas anyway :)

P.S. Would you believe it - I just realised I also wore these trousers on Christmas Eve last year. With a tartan scarf. Again.
P.P.S. I'll be back on Boxing Day with a brand new style of post you may just love...!
