A Cashmere Poncho With Brocade Jeans, Leopard Print and Suede

As today is the first day of winter (in Catherine’s world) I thought I’d bring you a classic winter piece: a cashmere poncho, in the most stunning purple-aubergine colour. It’s a really practical design as well as being gorgeous – it has ribbed sleeves so it’s like wearing a huge sweater… it hangs beautifully, and no cold arms. Believe me when I say this is cashmere at its softest and finest.

Like it? Well I’m so pleased to tell you you could win a poncho like this (as well as the scarf I’m wearing) in your choice of colour! Tomorrow I’ll be hosting a giveaway together with British label Cashmere & Cotton for you to win the same rib sleeve poncho and scarf. The scarf is also a wrap and can be worn lots of different ways, with the poncho or by itself. So don’t miss it, details tomorrow.

I wore the poncho over the weekend with my gold-coloured brocade jeans and leopard print trilby, which complemented the taupe suede booties beautifully. It was a chilly but beautiful sunny day; you can see the light of the setting sun in the background of the photos… perfect weather for this outfit. To top it off both the patchwork bag and funky Wolf & Moon earrings picked out the purple and taupe colours – it seems a pretty basic outfit at first but the little details are subtle and add a special something to the poncho/scarf combination without detracting from its cashmere gorgeousness.

Are you a poncho fan? Or a cashmere fan – or both (like me)? Do share in the comments, and tell me whether you’ll be back for the giveaway, won’t you 🙂

This is fabulous. Do you think I'd get away with wearing this at (cough cough) 49ish

Oh, Catherine…what I wouldn't give to be wrapped in this cushy poncho and scarf combo right now!! We've had such sadness here at home with the loss of one of our little ferrets last week; I'll take comfort anywhere I can get it (looking as gorgeous as you do – with those brocade jeans and leopard-print hat – would be an added bonus!!) XOXO

Oh that's a great look! I purchased a poncho/shawl thingy in Mark n sparks recently in black (oh lord help me!!) I really liked the style but was worried about looking like a "Sainsbury's Shopper" if you get my gist!
Seeing your outfit now I think I'm bordering on cool so thanks, must be going on the right lines somewhere!!

Mel don't worry about where you buy stuff from… if you style it right and it looks good on you then that's what matters! I've stopped being proud about where things come from. But ponchos are in so you're okay!! 😉
      Thanks hun x

hi Catherine, that color really suits you! You've styled it really well and if I'm honest a bit more imagitive then the cashmere &cottonwebsite. I love poncho's and real wool and cashmere but I'm not sure about this model with the sleeves. Would it fit over a leather jacket Or jeans jacket for instance? Because that is how I usually were them. Or must it be worn on its own, then it is more a huge jumper…I fear not warm enough as a wintercoat in the Dutch climate. The scarves are beauties however! very sure about those indeed!

    • 1 December 2014 / 11:01 pm

Thanks so much, Irmin! I personally wouldn't wear this poncho over a jacket – it would stretch the sleeves, but it would be fine with a thick sweater underneath (I wore it again today like that). But then the poncho is fine enough to go under a big coat if you need one… best of both worlds! x
