Oversized Dark Tartan Scarf With a Black Biker and Adidas

Autumn style: Dark tartan scarf and black biker jacket

I mentioned the other day I was obsessing over oversized tartan scarves, and I was right – I only went and bought the dark tartan one from Asos I said I had my eye on, didn’t I.

It’s probably going to be worn to death this winter, and it’s first appearance on the blog is with my trusty black biker jacket which I layered with the husband’s burgundy Fred Perry sweater. I like men’s sweaters in the winter as they cover your bum and give you that little extra warmth that’s so often needed if you’re wearing a jacket rather than a big coat.

Although I finished the outfit off pretty casually with skinnies and my Adidas Superstar Originals, I still added just a little touch of bling: the Asos pearl and spike earrings. They went straight in my basket as soon as I saw them – good job as they seem to have sold out already which is such a shame. Not to fear: I’ve picked out a selection of pearl and gold earrings and tartan scarves you may like at the end of the post… all’s not lost for all you tartan and earring loving readers just yet!

Are you enjoying layering up at the moment – what are your tips for keeping warm if you don’t want to wear a big coat? Do share in the comments!

Instant like. Very good composition. What I am always curious about, is the space between the sneakers and the jeans. It looks great but is it not very cold?

Thanks, Greetje! Well it's not sub-zero temperatures – as long as I have those short trainer socks on my feet are fine if I'm walking around (my feet somehow warm up really quickly when I'm walking). Chilly ankles don't bother me so much, but being cold round my neck or hands is totally different… I HAVE to wear a scarf and gloves!!

Catherine, You put the most interesting colors and patterns together and it always works beautifully! Such a great outfit! It is amazing what one item can do to make an outfit so fabulous- the scarf!!

Love this whole outfit! I've been on the hunt for a good oversized scarf. I love the one you found. I'm always super cold so I'm going to love a nice big scarf to keep me warm. lol

I can't live without big coats. As much as I layer, my skinny body can't take it 😀 I need to wrap myself in a huge parka or a fat oversize coat or I don't feel good at all 😀
Congratulations on the new scarf, it's amazing *_*
