How to Style Dungarees | With a Black Leather Jacket & Adidas Superstars

How to style dungarees | with a black leather jacket

I don’t think casual outfits come more relaxed and easy-to-wear than a pair of dungarees.

Then when you add a cozy sweater, biker jacket and your oldest (and comfiest) Adidas Superstar Originals, you’re all set for a day running errands and grocery shopping. Word of warning: dungarees are great when you’re out and about – until nature calls. Then you realise you have to take off your jacket as well as all the dungarees right off your shoulders and down… it’s as if you’re getting completely undressed in the cubicle and just feels a bit weird 😉

I’m currently in Paris for a few days in my new role as La Redoute’s brand ambassador (I guess it’s fitting that I’m wearing a La Redoute white cable knit sweater in this post) – I can’t wait to get back and show you photos! I’ll be doing a post or two about my trip and to tell you more about my role next week. In the meantime you can follow my Parisienne adventures on Twitter and Instagram – I’m sooo excited!!

Have you embraced the dungarees trend? Or are you more of a jumpsuit kinda girl? (I have both!) Do share in the comments!

Thank The Lord. I just ordered a pair and being over 40 started having second thoughts but you've got some great looks I'm going to channel.

Now THESE athletic-style shoes I like!! (Weird, huh?!) They are the ideal casual "go with" for your overalls…and I like the way you've toughened up the look just a bit with your moto jacket!! I don't own a pair of "dungarees" myself…but an outfit like this definitely tempts me!!

Adidas Superstars are the best, Monika – absolute classics, I've had mine for years! xx

No to the dungerees! You're gorgeous and you look amazing in pretty much everything, but even you look better in clothes that aren't dungerees. You could get the same effect with a pair of chinos and the sweater, jacket etc. And be far more comfy in a much more flattering style.

Still, whatever floats your boat, I guess…

I think you may have missed the point, Eleanor… I don't put my outfits up to ask what everyone thinks – and nor do I dress in a way that makes me look "pretty" all the time. Sometimes a chic outfit is loose, or casual, or a bit shapeless, and something that you just *want* to wear. Dungarees ARE more comfy than chinos, and I don't have to worry about anything coming untucked or making my middle cold.

As the great Keiko Lynn once said – if I want to wear something that others deem unflattering, who cares? If I like it and think it looks great, I wouldn't have gone out in public wearing it. They certainly don't make me look hideous, or show off bits of my body that should be covered up.

      They're staying, I'm afraid!

Hahaha. Sooo true! I'm one of those people that constantly has to pee and the dungaree problem is huge for me 😀
Adore how you styled yours, the sneakers are cute and that jacket extremely bad ass!

Haha you never think of these things when you get the, do you Keit??!! Thanks hun, glad you like it x

Very cute, very cool. I don't wear overalls but I think this look is casual-fab.

I have them, but I style them in a more retro way. You look incredibly cool, but here in our climate this outfit would be too hot…sweaty hot. Ick! :o) It would work sometime in November though, so I'll file this idea away for later. :o)

Guess what – dungarees are more of a summer thing here because you really need bare ankles I think with them, and that's a no-no in November. You can just about get away with any kind of bare skin around about end of May only…!!

I usually don't embrace new trends until it's too late! I am not really liking what we call "over alls" but they do look cute on others. I'll probably cave eventually. I can't believe ya'll are still wearing sweaters and jackets! We are in the 80's!

Hmm I'm afraid spring in the UK is rarely warm, Wendy – we've had snow in June before…! If it goes over 20C that's a heatwave for us ;))
