What I Wore To London Fashion Week | Fedora, Check Coat & Animal Booties

Check coat, fedora & flat booties
What I Wore to London Fashion Week: three down, one to go…! This outfit sees the appearance of the black & white animal booties some of you may have seen on Instagram a few weeks ago – and along with the red patent brogues in the last post, this is how I got round my heels vs flats for fashion week dilemma. Wear ’em flat, wear ’em funky – style and comfort can be done!! I may not feel as “fierce” when I’m not in my heels, but unless your sole purpose at fashion week is to get papped for street style photos it’s so much better being comfy.

Does that make me sound like an old lady…?!

I teamed the booties (because I was determined to wear them, whether they went with anything or not) with my oversized check coat from Asos, a fedora and my trusty Maxwell Scott Birkin, which went with me everywhere during those few days. This got me through a full day of walking, underground escalators, queuing for shows, more walking, the David Bailey ‘Stardust’ exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, more escalators, a wander (walk) round Covent Garden, and lots of standing watching street performers. (Did I mention lots of walking?) There’s no way I could have done all that in heels, and carrying flats to change into just makes your bag bulkier and heavier. I had the most chilled day, the sun shone and I remembered all the things I love about London.

One more LFW outfit to go, then it’s back to my jeans and flats. Oh look, that’s what I’m wearing here. Sue me, fashion police 😉

(These photos weren’t taken at LFW as you can probably tell; sometimes you have to recreate the outfit when you get home as it’s either too hectic on the day or you haven’t got someone with you to take your photo on your camera at a convenient time.)

Those are some rocking booties! I've basically given up on heels. I wear a wedge from time to time, but mostly flats… and I'm not even that old. 🙂 Thanks for linking up with Funday Monday!

Seriously, those boots? Perfect. Like, I'm almost thankful they were sold out because otherwise I would have bought them right this second. (And then explain to my husband why I bought such pricey shoes when I already have, like, 50 pairs….) But really, they're just too cool.

Love the whole look. Each item is something I'd wear. Of course those boots are very special indeed, you coat is bang on trend and the fedora and glasses make you look like some kind of (glamorous) rock star. I'm pleased that the look is light and bright too!

Fab outfit! We are almost bootie twins, I have a very similar pair:). I like your thinking … "Flat and funky" as an alternative to heels. Love the coat. It has quite a vintage vibe and makes me think of what my mum used to call a "car coat". You look great.

    • 27 February 2014 / 10:58 pm

Yes you're right – I remember "car coats"!! Now they were a long time ago, my mum talked about them too! Thanks hun x

I don't know how you can do a spending ban, Rachel – it would make me want to spend more… like being on a diet, you want to eat everything naughty in sight ;))

But thank you my lovely, you're a sweetheart x
