Back To Casual | Layered Knitwear & Boyfriend Jeans

Layered knitwear with plum gloves
So Christmas is all but over for another year, and that leaves New Year's Eve and then the start of a whole new 2014. After all the dressing up of the festive period I was glad to don my jeans and sweaters again, and the weather has been reasonably mild for this time of year so a thousand layers weren't needed.

A new pair of boyfriend jeans, a chunky snood and my black boots from New Look were what I was drawn towards at the end of last week - my hands are still feeling the cold so my fabulous purple leather gloves that I received for Christmas were the perfect accessory to smarten this "back to reality" outfit up just a tiny bit. This will also be my last post of 2013, but I'll start off the New Year with another "Bloopers & Outtakes" post that I did at the beginning of this year - do come back on the 1st for that, it'll hopefully be pretty funny...!

What about you - did you receive anything for Christmas that you can't wait to show off?

Autumn Winter Trends 2013 | Head-To-Toe Blush Pink

Blush pink head to toe
Not long to go till the end of 2013 - and what better way to see this year out than to squeeze one more AW13 trend in before it's over? I've worn a checked coat and tartan, and my last for this season is blush pink. I've been planning this post for a while, and have only just got round to it now because I thrifted a beige cardigan ages ago with the intention of dyeing it bright pink; a couple of weeks ago I finally got round to it. But I didn't quite get the results I'd hoped for...!

I had a packet of candy (bright) pink dye, but as always with these things it didn't do what I wanted - and in fact I was glad it didn't. I'd already bought these wonderful blush pink loose trousers from Mango and didn't intend to pair them with the cardigan once it had been DIYed, but when the result was more of a dusky blush pink, only then did I have the idea of wearing them together. All it needed after the dye-job was a statement brooch and the addition of some neutrals, and I had myself the perfect Boxing Day outfit: loose and comfy but still a little dressed up.

I'm fully aware that blush pink divides opinion amongst us, but I'm definitely in the "for" camp now I have my two new pieces... I love them together. What do you think - yea or nay to this season's colour? Have you bought a blush pink coat which it seems is THE blogger's item of this winter (I've resisted so far)!

Christmas Day Outfit | Layered Green Pleated Dress & Some Bling

Green pleated dress & black shirt
Happy Boxing Day everyone - I hope you all had a fabulously excessive and fun Christmas! I'm still in Christmas mode myself (eating everything naughty in sight and just wanting to play board games and get dressed up), but it'll start winding down tomorrow once I want to be back in jeans and out of my heels.

Here's what I wore on Christmas Day itself: the green pleated Louche dress I wore in the blogger style challenge a couple of weeks back (I lost by just one vote - so gutted! - but thank you so much if you voted for me) layered with a black Peter Pan collar shirt, some bling and a half updo. I also wore my fabulous new Satya Jewelry earrings for the first time which I've been saving for a special occasion, and I thought they were perfect for Christmas Day: set with a citrine stone which represents "radiance, happiness and awareness"... how perfect is that for this time of year?!

Enjoy the rest of the festive period (I'll have quite a few outfits to post as I've got more free daytime hours and can get photos taken) - tell me what you wore on Christmas Day! Full on dressed-up in your gladrags like me, or low key and dressed down in a onesie...?

Autumn Winter Trends 2013 | How To Wear Double Tartan (And Merry Christmas!)

Tartan scarf & trousers, white coat
Merry Christmas Eve lovely readers! Hope you're all as excited about the festivities as I am :)

After several months of frugality since becoming a full time blogger, I finally gave in and treated myself to a few items in the last couple of weeks. Not the best timing, I know (seeing as Christmas is an expensive time of year anyway), but the seasonal sales and discount vouchers being thrown at me were just too tempting.

I desperately wanted to get something in tartan or plaid (aren't they the same thing?) and had my eye on slim leg tartan trousers, but these ones from River Island just didn't look right on me. So I reluctantly bought a pair of loose fit tartan check trousers from Asos - and I'm so glad I got these instead! Comfy, warm and a great colour combination. And I don't know which I saw first, but I was drawn to this gorgeous red tartan scarf from Romwe... and this was a bit of a major sartorial moment for me: I have never worn red next to my face before. Red trousers, red skirts, red bags, red shoes - but never red tops or sweaters. I always thought it would make me look very red-cheeked, but after dipping my toes in the waters of red for my top half I may just consider something else in the same colour. I've always longed for a classic red dress - what do you think...?

I'd like to wish everyone a VERY Happy Christmas - thank you so much for all the support you've shown and wonderful comments you've left me this year. I'm so happy to be doing this full time, and it's all of you that make it so much fun and so rewarding. Enjoy your Christmas Day, and I'll see you back here on Boxing Day for a quick hello!

Bright Winter Colours With Geometric & Leopard Prints

Multicoloured shawl, coral sweater & blue leopard print skinnies
I love finding a favourite accessory that I'd almost forgotten about - and this multicoloured scarf-come-wrap was one of those items. It's so large I can't store it with all my other scarves so I tend to forget I have it. This outfit started with the scarf as my starting point, and the bright cashmere sweater and the blue leopard skinnies were the nearest things that were clean and coordinated to create a cosy but bright look. (Yes I will admit: some outfits happen only because the individual items were what I had to hand that were clean at the time...!)

I bought these black leather ankle boots from New Look following a several-months-long search for the perfect pair for everyday wear. Most of the ones I'd found either had a very skinny heel (not practical for walking) or were too low (not what I was after) - these are the perfect combination of solid heel, reasonably high, with some interesting detail. Added bonus: they are incredibly comfy.

What about you - do you ever create an outfit simply because it's all you had clean at the time...? I hope it's not just me ;)

Only three sleeps till Christmas - hope you're all geared up for the big day! I'll be scheduling a few posts over the break, so Not Dressed As Lamb won't seem totally deserted... do come back on Christmas Eve and then again on Boxing Day for an outfit post or two :)
