Styling A Cashmere Sweater For AW13 | Outfit For A Family Birthday Party

Coral sweater, statement necklace, white mini skirt & plum boots
A cashmere sweater is one of those special luxuries that I’ve often dreamt about, and a good quality one in your favourite colour (not just this year’s on-trend colour) is a classic that should see you through many seasons.

Today and tomorrow I’ll show you two very different ways of styling this beautiful coral boyfriend sweater from Pure Collection – starting today with how I wore it to a family birthday party!

Coral is possibly one of my all-time favourite colours, and this relaxed fit round neck sweater in the softest cashmere is perfect for any time of year. My great-nephew turned two the other week, so for my party outfit I layered my sweater over a white mini dress and teamed it with purple tights and knee-high boots – creating an absolutely delicious colour combination in the process. To dress it up a little I added a statement necklace, simple gold rings and a chunky white watch… and I loved the result. This sweater really lends itself to layering, and the colour is so pretty.

I can see myself wearing it a lot as the fit is perfect, and as you’d expect from cashmere, incredibly soft; it’s also nice to have some knitwear that won’t be too hot for a British spring (or summer)! Do come back tomorrow for my second post to see how I styled the sweater for a business meeting.

Do you own any cashmere, and are you in awe of it like me? Let me know in the comments!

This outfitroves to me how good you are. Gosh this is so nice. Never in a million years would I have thought of this. All the pieces are right. The colour in the necklace picks up the tights and boots. The tights and boots make the coral sweater even better. And that gorgeous bag has a white bit, which comes back in the skirt. Sigh… So good.

Ohhh wow, that's a great color mix. But for me the highlight is your necklace. Great!! And the color of the sweater fits perfectly to your hair color. I'm looking forward to the businesspost. I have some cashmere cardigans and think they are the perfect companion for this season. Conny

Thank you Conny – I debated whether the coral colour would be too much with my bright hair, but I needn't have feared as I think the colour complements my hair :))

Your sweater is definitely lovely, Catherine…but for me it's the boots that are truly awe-inspiring!! How stunning are these??!!! I doubt we wear the same size, otherwise I'd be begging for a "hand-me-down!!" 😉

Hehe thanks Monika – I actually bought them at the end of last spring (still winter, really), but never really got a chance to wear them because it then got hot really quickly. So I'm so glad I get to wear them now!!

I'm finding it difficult to select one or two pieces from your outfit that I love the most!! I love all of it. I don't own any cashmere but I can only imagine how soft it is. Looking forward to see the rest of your style choices.

Thank you Audrey – I used to work for a luxury cashmere brand years and years ago, so I've always known how soft it is, but never owned any before. I feel so lucky to have some cashmere of my own at last!
