Summer Dressing | Styling A Thrifted Embroidered Dress

Cream embroidered dress & Panama hat
In all this heat I finally got to wear the embroidered cream dress that I thrifted last summer – never worn till now due to the lack of warm weather. I wore it on the second day of the balloon festival where I wore all white with pops of red, this time I threw in a few neutral coloured accessories instead. (I think the Panama hat has become permanently stuck to my head this summer…!) Unfortunately there’s no balloons in these pictures because it was too windy for them to go up 🙁

Last year I had intended to dye the dress a pale blue or pale violet colour (I even bought the dyes in preparation) – now I’m not so sure. What do you think: keep it cream or dye it a pastel colour? Help, I can’t decide!

I say keep it cream! It's just so classy and lovely. What a great thrifting find! 🙂

I absolutely love the dress as-is! You look great in it…what a fantastic thrift find!

Cream, for now … LWDs are so of the moment. AND white with blue are equally hot … it's so lightly embellished that it looks as much an LWD as a blue+white peasant frock. Dye it in a couple of seasons if it gets old.
It's working pretty hard for you, 'cause you look pretty gorgeous in it.

The look is very classy, and fabulous enough to be on film set for the remaking of Breakfast at Tiffany's. Love the entire ensemble, very chic and feminine!

White is perfect for summer – I'd leave this dress as is.

I think you should keep it just as it is. Blue and white is such a classic, and will be so easy to work into other outfits. Love your fedora!

I love embroidery! But sometimes it can be too sweet; not the case with this dress tho! Very modern; LOVE. XOXO

I would vote for "keeping it cream" and I think it's gorgeous on you. This is definitely a great summer outfit. I'm still looking for a nice hat on me and yet to be found. I'm envious of your hat now =D

It would probably look good as well if you dyed it, but no need to. Being Dutch I like this blue on white (Delft blue crockery). I think it is a lovely dress and I would keep it this way. Why bother going through the trouble when it is already good? Lots of colours you can combine it with too. No need to tell YOU that, is there hahaha.

One question: although the hat looks gorgeous on your head, is it not warm? I always thought it would be. I cannot wear one because it ruins my hair. Trying to get it a bit bigger, fuller than it is, takes a lot of work which I am not going to spoil by putting on a hat.

So gorgeous! I vote for keeping it cream for a season, then changing it up if you like. The hat is perfection. xoxoxo

Definitely keep it cream… not only does it look very nice but home dying can give very strange results! Ruined a lovely vintage dress like that once…..

    Definitely keep it cream 🙂

Such a pretty dress and a great thrift find. I would definitely keep it cream, it's far too pretty to dye. Xx

I can't believe that dress is thrifted! It's absolutely beautiful! I would keep it the way that it is.

  18. 27 July 2013 / 3:16 pm

The dress looks gorgeous as is. And so do you!

I love it cream! That milky color looks GORGEOUS with your skin and hair! I'd leave it!

  20. 27 July 2013 / 2:49 pm

So pretty! I love the cream as is, it's very Norwegian looking and soft. You look lovely as always!

I love the cream ..it reminds me of a delicate china teacup. It's a keeper in cream for me! Looking gorgeous as ever. X

  22. 27 July 2013 / 1:38 pm

Hi there! Great dress and I love it as it is, cream is very stylish and classy.

  23. 27 July 2013 / 1:04 pm

I think pale violet would look great, but I'd be scared to dye it in case it didn't work well and ruined the dress!

  24. 27 July 2013 / 12:03 pm

I think you should leave it just the way it is because I think it looks gorgeous and it matches everything! It's lovely. Don't dye it.

  25. 27 July 2013 / 11:48 am

I love it cream. It looks fabulous with the hat.

  26. 27 July 2013 / 11:46 am

Beautiful dress, I love the style and the fit and length are perfect. I would't dye it but keep the cream!
