Dressing for the British weather can be challenging at the best of times, but throw in some indoor tropical heat as part of your day out alongside cool summer temperatures and you’ve got yourself a nightmare for trying to decide what to wear.
The Eden Project is the UK’s most-visited tourist attraction, with the world’s largest indoor rainforest inside one of the biomes (which can be seen in the background of one of my photos). It’s an incredible place – probably why I’ve been three times now…!
The Eden Project also hold mini music festivals – the Eden Sessions – so after a day spent in the beautiful outdoor gardens and the sweltering rainforest biome and slightly cooler Mediterranean biome at the end of June, we were lucky enough to see Icelandic band Sigur Rós who were just incredible. The fact that it didn’t rain at an outdoors event was a blessing – but loose clothes for the biomes and layers for the chilly evening were essential.
If you’re ever thinking of going to the Eden Project, one word of advice: do NOT wear skinny jeans. They would be the worst thing I could possibly imagine to wear – you need loose clothes! The Brits are not used to the sort of heat that makes jeans inadvisable, and I pitied the girls walking around the tropical rainforest in their skinnies looking like they were ready to melt. Thankfully I kept my trousers loose and my top sleeveless and just about managed to keep cool.
Unlike the weather on that day, the UK has gone craaaazy with the heat this week; I just want shorts and a bikini all the way at the moment. How do you lovely readers stay cool in the hot weather – do you have a go-to outfit that will always see you through a hot day? Let me know in the comments!

I visited the Eden Project back in 2004 but believe it's continued to grow since then. I too like to giggle at those that dress completely inappropriately for the situation (eg: girls in sandals at concerts!). LOVE the colourful look Catherine – thanks for sharing with WW xx
It's starting to get hot in Spain (around 35C today, not sure what that is in fahrenheit!) and I wear either cotton skirts or loose linen trousers with a sleeveless or very lightweight short-sleeved top. Nothing that clings to the body!

Greetje suggested your site to me and I just realized that I've been following you on GCOGH. Love your style! We are not having crazy heat temps here in Southern California but when it does it hot, it is all loose and light weight clothes for me.
I am your newest follower on bloglovin'!

Alice thanks for the follow – it's nice to meet you (and thanks Greetje too)! xo
Here in Texas, I'm wearing loose tank tops and cotton shorts, or a cotton dress most of the time. It's nothing to have temps over 100F. That said, I wore white skinnies to a brunch (indoors), then MELTED the rest of the day just getting in and out of the vehicle to and from the shops! The first thing I thought when I saw your outfit was, "Oooo, those pants (and the whole outfit really) look so nice and comfortable for summer!"

I think it's only been over 100F about twice ever in the UK, sweetie!!! And OMG to the white skinnies. Can't imagine how hot you must have been…! Thanks for your lovely comment x
Loving the style of these pants on you! The colors are also great. The more color the merrier!

You look lovely. In Kansas, my key to dealing with heat and humidity is almost always a casual skirt and sandals.
Good idea, Terri – we're just SO not used to it in the UK!! Thank you x
Love the colors! The whole outfit ties together so well!
