So all’s good after a fabulous long weekend away for Bath in Fashion: look out for BIF-related posts over the next week or so, all still featuring my personal style π
Today’s outfit is a style challenge entry – as I’m so lucky to have had you lovely people support me for the BIF blogger award, I’m asking you again to vote for my outfit in a Damsel in a Dress Blogger Style Off… gosh I’m so demanding! I’m sorry!
As described on their website, Damsel in a Dress targets “confident, vibrant, and individual women who embrace the feeling of wearing clothes that are cut to flatter the female body”. (I like the sound of that!) They contacted me to ask if I wanted to take part in a dress styling competition on their Facebook page with four other bloggers – and I’m rarely one to pass over a challenge! We’ve been challenged to create an outfit that’s based around a dress from the SS13 collection – I chose the Sakura dress which is the most beautiful orange and pink floral, perfect for a wedding guest outfit.
So if you like the way I’ve styled it…
Click here to see my outfit on their Facebook page and “Like” to vote!
How I styled the dress:
I decided to go with black and white accessories to counteract the girliness of the florals, so an Asos statement necklace, a wide black cut-out belt and black scraper heels gave the dress a little bit of an edge.
You may think you need to buy all the extra accessories to go with a new dress for a wedding… not necessarily true. To save money, I looked at what I had in my (not very large) clutch collection, and found this very plain white patent clutch. And to funk it up a bit, I did the easiest DIY ever: arrange some craft jewels on your clutch in a pattern you like, then simply stick them on using a glue gun. Hey presto – one totally blinging, coordinating clutch!
The winning blogger will receive a £250 Damsel in a Dress wardrobe that they can keep themselves or use as a giveaway… I’ll be offering the £250 as a giveaway – so please get voting!
Click here, then click on my photo and “Like” to vote!
Thank you so much everyone, I hope you like the outfit… Look out for more wedding guest outfits, I’ll be featuring them in other posts over the next few weeks!

The print, the colors, the floaty sleeves…I could stare at it forever (well a long time anyway). :o)
Oh, I got the picture sizing working for me and can use horizontal photos now without messing up how my pictures "read". Thanks sooooo much for sharing how to fix that!

Wow that's EXCELLENT news, JJ! I will pop over and check out your pics! And thank you for the lovely comments too x
Beautiful dress and the styling adds interest and certainly prevents the look from being totally girly. The accessories do add an 'edge'. Voted. Good luck, you look gorgoues.
Yep I thought black would be less obvious and much more dynamic than pastels or brights! Thank you Deborah! x
Love your whole outfit. It's very pretty and romantic.
Aww thanks Victoria!

You look fantastic and I voted. Good luck!
Yay – thank you Iva!
Sorry, but the belt and the shoes are a bit out of place. Too heavy for the dress, the necklace and the bag.
Don't be sorry, Linda! I don't know whether you saw I wrote that the black was worn to give the outfit an edge? The fact that you think it's heavy is good – so thank you! It was meant to be π
Some blogs ask for an outfit critique but mine isn't one of those: people come for inspiration and I like to provide that, in the same way as I take inspiration from other style bloggers. I'm not looking for confirmation that an outfit works, my blog is just showing my readers what I like to wear. It's so much more pleasant for everyone around us if we're positive – or if that's not possible, silent – don't you think…?!
Gorgeous dress and styling! Will be voting as soon as I get to my proper computer : >
I know I can always count on you, Patti – thank you my lovely xoxo
