New Year’s Eve Fancy Dress: Japanese Anime Girl

Fancy Dress: Japanese Anime Girl

If you follow me on Instagram you may well have seen what I wore on New Year’s Eve – I decided to go Japanese anime this year!

Whilst I am a big fancy dress fan, I haven’t been to a fancy dress party since I started the blog, so it had to be something I thought you guys would like 😉

The idea simply came about because I was ordering a few bits from ASOS and for some reason decided to browse the wig section (I think I was thinking about the gorgeous bloggers Aminta and Frassy who are both wig fans) – I just added the pink ombre wig to the basket on a whim. I didn’t have any intention of keeping it, I just wanted to try it on for fun… but I absolutely LOVED it. Then I found out my mum was hosting an impromptu fancy dress party for New Year – and an outfit instantly sprang to mind.

Apart from the wig and stockings (ordered off eBay), everything was stuff I had anyway. The dress has been seen on the blog here and here (although I tacked the hem up a bit to shorten it), and my mum had some tartan fabric which I cut into a strip to make the bow. My make up – mimicking the huge eyes of anime characters – was my best effort copied off “living” anime girl Anastasiya Shpagina – if you haven’t seen this girl yet you should check her out. All at once beautiful but reeeeeally creepy.

I now just have to think of some way of incorporating this wig into my everyday attire…!

You really pulled this off. The dress and all the details are perfect. I've never heard of a costumed New Year's Eve party before. What a great idea!

What a GREAT costume! And I don't blame you for putting that wig in your basket at Asos on a whim – now I'm tempted to do the same thing 🙂

I think it is fantastic. You are a true creator. You could have passed me at the party (as if I was there… duh)and I would not have recognised you.
The odd thing is, although it is fancy dress and you are truly that Japanese anime caracter, you still look stunningly beautiful.
I do love what you are doing. And I love fancy dressing. Unfortunately have not dressed up for so so many years.

That's a shame, Josep-Maria… though fancy dress isn't really about "liking" an outfit – it's about being creative?! Never mind!

What a fun outfit! When I hear the term 'fancy dress', I think of evening gowns and diamonds. This fancy dress is soooo much more interesting. I for one, would be so tempted to wear that wig out for everyday…

Maybe the term "fancy dress" is only a British expression then, Sue… though I can't think how else to describe it?!! Thank you sweetie – and yes I am extremely tempted to wear it out!! C x
