A Touch of Elvis: Blue Suede Shoes & Military Trousers

A bit of time travelling's going on here... this is an outfit I wore a couple of weeks ago but didn't get round to posting. You may be surprised to learn it was a thrown-together outfit - and somehow ended up a little matchy-matchy (shoes and sweater; socks, other sweater, nails and watch; hair and belt). I still like it though - I think this may be my favourite kind of outfit: warm layers, with a leather jacket, loose trousers and comfy heels.

The trousers were described on the ASOS website as "military" style, so with the blue suede shoes I immediately thought Elvis. Not a bad influence at all, though I'll give the iconic white jumpsuit a miss I think ;)

So I'm finishing up for 2012 - thank you to all my wonderful followers for your unending support: I really appreciate all the lovely comments and flattery passed my way, you've really made my year. Hope you all have a great New Year... I'll be in fancy dress on New Year's Eve, so be sure to pop back in the first week of January for pictures of what I wore!

Here's to 2013 :)

So I haven't dropped off the face of the earth - but I did decide to enjoy a little break from blogging over Christmas! It just so happened that I had a stinking cold as well, but that's mostly gone now thank goodness... no illness for as long as I can remember and then I come down with something on Christmas Eve. Typical!

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and had a chance to relax, eat lots of delicious food and hopefully do a little giving and receiving too. I was a really lucky girl this year, and some of the lovely things I got from loved ones will be making appearances on the blog soon enough.

As my family always get super-duper dressed up on the 25th, I still made an effort despite my sore throat and fuzzy head and decided to wear an old favourite - this Karen Millen dress I bought several years ago, but one I've not worn on Christmas Day before. I added a couple of new extras I treated myself to just before Christmas: the pretty feather headband and these amazeballs tights from ASOS: how great are they?! I love how the pattern's on both the front and the back of the tights.

Hope you all enjoy the rest of your Christmas break, whatever holidays you have left. I'll be back on the case with visiting everyone over the weekend... I have some catching up to do with you all :)

29/12/12 P.S. Anyone else think this would make a fabulous and quite modern bridesmaid's dress/outfit...? I think the addition of the feather headband made me think bridesmaid but only when I saw the photos. It would be a nice alternative to the usual dresses that I'm usually not keen on ;)

So Christmas is so very nearly upon us - I hope you're all prepared for the food onslaught?! I'll be showing off a food baby or two on Instagram and Twitter over the next few days, so let's keep in touch that way till just after Christmas, shall we?

Have a WONDERFUL Christmas break, and thank you to everyone who has visited and left such lovely, lovely comments over the past year for me. I appreciate each and every one.

Till after the festivities...

Oriental/Geometric Pattern Mixing (& A New Hairdo)

Pattern mixing and denim
Pattern mixing and grey manicure
Pattern mixing
I haven't done any pattern mixing for a while, have I? So what better way to redress that balance than by mixing two of my favourite pieces, which I've discovered work beautifully together due to their shared colour palette.  I simply adore this combination...!

So although my last post featured my new 'do, I didn't really mention it - it may not be super obvious but I had several inches taken off... thanks to everyone who left a comment on Instagram when I couldn't decide whether to chop or not! Already I'm loving it this length (so much easier to brush and wash), plus I have the flame red colour back - happy all round :)

Hope everyone has a not-too hectic last weekend before Christmas - come back Sunday for a round up of my pick of my Autumn outfits, wontcha...?

Kaleidoscope Christmas Party Sequinned Jacket

Black Sequinned Jacket

Sequinned black jacket
I've been a lucky girl in the past few weeks, as I've received a few items from different retailers - including this gorgeous black sequinned jacket from the lovely people at Kaleidoscope!

I was able to choose whatever I wanted within a £100 budget - I had to pick a 'dream party wear outfit'... And what better item to choose than something black and sequinned - I have wanted a sequinned jacket since, well, forever. It's the perfect item to throw over any outfit to make it shout it's Christmas...!

This outfit would be perfect for the Christmas party season because I think it could work for most types of Christmas events - you'd feel dressed up enough for slightly formal dos, but just as funky and on-trend for the more, shall we say, raucous events(!) The jacket is also the perfect item to have on hand to transform your everyday work outfit from day to night for those straight-after-work Christmas get-togethers: a suit blazer could see you through the day, while more office-friendly heels or even flats could be swapped for some statement heels - in my case, my fave skyscraper leopard Kurt Geigers. Add some fabulous gold jewellery (I chose dangly gold earrings, though chandelier earrings would also work, plus some blinging bracelets) and you're good to go... I'll be wearing this outfit when I go out with the girls from work for our Christmas get together!

Want to see what Kaleidoscope have to offer? Go to - their brand is aimed at 45+ year old women and although I'm a little under their target age, I found some really classic pieces I loved.
So whatever you're wearing to your Christmas parties this Christmas - have fun and of course stay safe!

Walkin' In The Mud With My Check Coat On

Check coat and wellies
Wellies in mud
Black fluffy bobble hat
Stuck in the mud
Yep, it's the Wedge Wellies again. This time they got a proper road test - the muddy fields by my parents' house. Well, when you see deep mud and you're wearing wellies, who in their right mind can resist walking right through it...?

I've had this coat for years, and it's one of my favourites (I've worn it here, here and here on the blog). It suits black so well - I know, I know, it's unusual for me to want to wear black - I'll admit, I'm a hypocrite! And I LOVE my new fluffy bobble hat from ASOS that I bought after I Pinned this adorable picture. I added a little initial "C" pin to the hat just to add a little jewellery... it's so hard to wear any bling in the winter without it being covered up. Rings and arm candy are covered up with gloves, necklaces by scarves, and earrings by hair and hats. So let's all stick stuff to the outside of everything! Necklaces and brooches on top of coats is a good place to start.

So, only nine sleeps till Christmas! Is everyone excited???
