Chasing the Golden Hour in Knitted Stripes

2012-09-22 Not Dressed As Lamb 001

I don’t know about necessarily chasing the golden hour, but we definitely had a race against time to get these photos taken before the sun dropped below the horizon…

you can see the shadow slowly creeping up my legs (I had to keep edging up the bank with each shot). The little round stone building in the background is an 18th-century windmill near my sister’s house (it’s long since lost its sails and hasn’t been in use for many generations) – I think it makes a wonderful background with the setting sun.

Those of you who follow the blog regularly may notice that my usual milkmaid plaits look a little looser this time – this is probably the laziest hairdo in the world! Wear your hair up in the plaits for a day, then before bed simply unpin them, making sure they’re untied at the ends. They should stay in place overnight but be pretty loose in the morning – simply plonk them back up on top of your head as they are and pin in place. Because they’re loose they’ll give more volume to your hair overall, and it makes a nice change from the [my] usual “hard” look of very tightly plaited hair.

So are you all having a good week – I hope so! Thanks so much for stopping by 🙂

I love both versions of your milkmaid braids! Your blue ring is scrumptious together with your loaded wrists. I adore how your shoes echo the sweater's stripes, and you are gorgeous in the golden light.

This reminded me so much of my time in Germany last summer. I would chase the sunset over a local farm and then wait for my husband at the bus stop. Such fond memories. Thank you for conjuring them!
