I called this post Seventies sunset because the pictures reminded me of the posters and stationery (like bookmarks) you used to get when I was a kid - everything in the Seventies was photographed with horses in cornfields with beautiful sunsets... or at least that's how I remember it ;) These pictures were taken last week in the evening of what was probably the most glorious day of the year so far. We so rarely get proper hot days in Blighty - even more rarely in May - so to spend a relaxed day in the sun was just wonderful. However this actual weekend (as I'm writing) is grey and wet - it's the Diamond Jubilee/bank holiday weekend so of course the weather is depressing. But it's lovely to look at these pictures and remember the warmth we were having a week ago...!
I didn't get to wear this skirt much last year when I bought it, it was just never warm enough. I hope I have few more wears out of it this summer as I love the unusual floral pattern and muted colours. And even though I usually pile on the arm candy come the summer, it was just too hot to wear more than a couple of watches and rings with a long gold knotted necklace.
If you're still on holiday for a couple of days you're probably British and enjoying a Jubilee weekend, but Happy Monday to everyone, whatever you're doing!

DeleteThese photos and lighting are beautiful. So are you. Especially in that first photo...I can imagine a great painter in history seeing your lovely expression and downcast eyes and being moved to paint you.
ReplyDeleteThat's one of my top 3 comments ever, Lisa - a truly wonderful and flattering compliment!!!! Thank you SO much xx
DeleteI got excited about the warm weather when I saw your lovely summery ensemble, and then remembered we don't live in the same place :P
ReplyDeleteI'm more of a lurker, but I have to tell you it's you who inspired me to get my first green manicure. Love it, so went out and bought both green and blue nail polish for do-it-yourself manis - and to paint a nail on each hand a different color. They won't know what to think at the ol' law firm!
I think green is strangely flattering on nails, Lynne - that's so lovely that I inspired you!! I'd love to know what they thought ;) xo
DeleteJust gorgeous! Nuff said!

DeleteI love this and you will think this is weird, but I love the look of your hands. I liked them in one of the last posts too. They look so rich. :-)
ReplyDeleteNot so weird, sweetie - in my family it's my eldest sister who has the MOST beautiful hands (hand model standard), and they always fascinated me as a kid. I guess I always longed for her lovely hands so tried to look after mine! Thank you for your lovely comment, C xx
