Romantic, Floaty Wedding Guest Outfit

Hi everyone I’m back from holiday! As soon as we were back we had to go to a wedding evening reception, so I’m posting my pictures of the wedding outfit first whilst sorting out my holiday photos.

I’ll show those pictures over the course of the next week πŸ™‚

This isn’t the outfit I intended to wear originally; I was going to wear a vintage eBay dress that needed shortening, but of course I didn’t have enough time after getting back from our trip. So this outfit was basically a backup, but I was more than happy to switch to Plan B as I love this skirt so much. I wore it the other week as a daytime look to work, and it lends itself sooo well to being dressed up. I bought the beautiful ruffled cardigan a couple of years ago (a much-loved impulse buy) and I love the ruffles and pleats together. The only new item is the pair of ASOS wedges: very high, strangely comfortable and extremely flattering. I don’t have many black shoes – they’re a great (and hopefully versatile) addition to my shoe collection.

Thank you everyone for all your wonderful comments while I was away – I won’t have the time to reply to all of them I’m afraid but I really appreciate each and every one… thanks guys, you’re the best.

That skirt looks great with your day look and dressed up. I bought a pleated skirt that I can't wait to wear but it needs altered, but I would love to have the maxi!

This is such a perfect wedding outfit! I think that cardigan and skirt were made to be worn together. I like that everything else you wore was black – it really lets the interesting textures of the cardigan and skirt shine.

That's a good point about pairing them with black, Stacey… I think they would have looked all wrong with a bright top – too much competing for attention πŸ˜‰ Thanks sweetie xo

Wonderful outfit. Your skirt is one of the nicest I've seen lately. The jacket is beautiful and the colors are wonderful. The entire set is gorgeous. From the best I've seen these days on the network.

I don't even know what to say …. I can't decide if the skirt or the cardigan is the best part! I would have NEVER thought of putting these together but I ABSOLUTELY LOVE it!!!!!!!!!!!!! pippa

Oh, the jacket is lovely. The ruffles on it and the skirt must have made for fascinating movement.

You really did so well with this outfit. I love those wedges, and as much as I loved that skirt in the other post you had worn it in (it was one of my favorite aspects of the outfit), I think that cardigan is the winner for me in this outfit. I love how it looks on you, and it really looks great with the pleats! And I may have stared at it for a really long time because I need to find something similar now πŸ™‚

Great combining two very ladylike textures – pleats and ruffles. Very appropriate for 'two cool people getting married' type of wedding.

gorgeous wedges – I've been looking for a simple black pair like this for what seems like an eternity! are they really comfy? and without leather? that's perfect for me! thanks for sharing πŸ™‚

    • 20 May 2012 / 10:40 pm

Yes they were really comfy (as comfy as heels can be) – I spent a lot of the evening standing up/walking around and even danced in them too, and that was their first wear! No blisters either… but I did walk the 10 mins home in my foldaway flats πŸ˜‰ C xx

  33. 20 May 2012 / 6:31 pm

Yes, the white nail polish is a wonderful finishing touch to this fab feminine look. I love all the texture and the tone-one-tone colors.

This is absolutely the most elegant of all your outfits, and beautiful! I just love every little detail in it, right down to the white nail polish!
