It’s in the bag: brown, jade and black

Sweater: ASOS, Cardigan (worn as snood): Red Herring, Trousers: Coast, Belt: F+F, Bag: Lulu Guinness, Heels: French Connection, Socks: Accessorize, Floral hairband: Unknown, Watch: Red Herring: Wide black bracelet: New Look, Black & gold bracelet: Debenhams, Ring: New Look, Nails: Barry M Mint Green

I so want to take the credit for wearing a cardigan as a snood, but it has to go to…

Confession: I can’t remember. I thought I’d saved the link to the lovely blogger who recently posted about how to wrap a sweater to make a snood, but I’m terrible and can’t find the link or remember her name. If it was you or know who it was – please leave a comment and I will credit you!!

So I did rise to today’s Winter Edition Challenge after all – Open to Interpretation, based on this outfit. As we could interpret it any way we wanted, I simply chose the colour scheme as inspiration: black, white, brown, oatmeal and jade green. I was forced to wear the cardigan as a snood because the only brown and jade green items I own were both tops (and not possible to layer), so I had to improvise.

But as with my other outfits this week, I wouldn’t have put this together without the challenges as inspiration. So thank you, Kayla 😉

[Amendment: it was the lovely Van of theclotheswewear.com who wore a sweater as a snood… thank you for getting in touch and the inspiration, Van!]

While the styling in this outfit is excellent, it is your hair that steals the show for me. I love the braids.

Oh thank you so much, Terri – it's a risk wearing my hair like this at my age, but I think you can just about get away with it if they're messy and loose… I hope! Catherine x

Hi Catherine! Me, me! I posted the idea of wearing a sweater as scarf in my Anatomy of Clothes series. It's made my day to see you post about this and that you've done something different with it. I hadn't thought to expose the buttons. It's a lovely detail. Thank you for spreading the word!
